I’ve worked on about 25 movies.

The highest paid people on a movie, actors not from Louisiana, directors not from Louisiana, plus half the PAs not from Louisiana, and instead of hiring a local caterer for craft services they brought in a fricking taco truck from California. So what if your boom guy is from New Orleans. They bring in way too many people from out of state.

I’ve actually noticed an uptick in NWLa recently.

I’ve driven through two productions in just the last few weeks and not too long ago I drove through the Bonnie and Clyde ambush site and there was a big production set up there for the upcoming Costner/Harrelson Netflix movie about the cops chasing Bonnie and Clyde.

It has been dead for 4 or 5 years but has picked up recently.

As someone that worked for years at a restaurant in BR, we got calls all the time to do large deliveries to set, held wrap parties, many of the costume designers, assistants, etc of the other people employed by the movie from Cali would come in. We would get quite a few in the restaurant EVERY. NIGHT. I remember the first year after the cap, the same people that would spend 6-8 months a year in BR no longer came back to LA for work and we lost all their business. We weren't the only ones to get hit by it either.

Now this is a bit extreme. Not to mention, if you are in Louisiana, why would you bring in food.. Especially a fricking taco truck to cater?

so you want productions to hire all the local directors and DP's?
And obviously there aren't a lot of real local producers either.
i have never seen a PA brought in from out of state ... some of the California caterers set up satellite branches.

Do you know how expensive it is to bring someone in ?? 3000 in housing a month, per diem of at least $500 a week, rental cars etc. it's in the productions interest to hire local at almost every below the line position when they can.

I have worked on well over 50 movies at a high level ... and i can guarantee you when i start my next show in NOLA next week my staff of 75+ plus will be 100% local.

on a 30 million dollar movie about 80% of the crew is local is my guess

You are off. It is closer to 90%, and if you count extras it is even higher. The only time productions have lower percentage of Louisiana residents is when the entire local workforce is on a show.

Now even keys are local. That wasn't the case 2 years ago.

Facts do not support your anecdotes. And while the highest paid people on a set may be from out of state, the spend on those positions is generally 25% or less of the total expenditures in state.

Didn't Edwards cap the movies?

And I'll add, to his credit.

See, that's the thing, we need a title card or credit logo for Louisiana. As far as I'm aware, we don't have one, but if you watch at the end of a movie's credits, if it was filmed in New York, it'll have a New York Film logo.

Georgia has one and I've seen it on a bunch of movies/tv shows

Always wondered why we didn't.

I am going to run for Lt. Governor and make sure this happens (I assume that would be a job for Lt Governor since they are responsible for tourism and promoting the state).

There is a Louisiana Film Logo.

You have to remember everything Georgia is doing from an incentive perspective was modeled off of what Louisiana has done. They just like wasting even more money than us.

I'd like to know how to contact a location scout.

I've found an incredible indoor location that I plan to photograph just to show how awesome it is. I simply don't know where to send the photos.
