What happened to the hole in the ozone layer?

Remember in the late 80s/early 90s there was a hole in the ozone that was getting bigger and eventually would let through all UV rays and cause us all to die a horrible death?
Did we patch that baw up?

It stopped getting bigger. And it has been shrinking for like the last 20 years or so. I think it's supposed to be back to normal in like 50 or 60 years or something like that.

Well, because our leaders at the time believed the scientists and banned the man made chemicals causing ozone loss, the hole has slowly been getting smaller. Scientists believe it will be back to pre 1980 levels by 2070.

A bunch of the carbon dioxide broke up into carbon monoxide and the remaining oxygen fused with the O2 to make O3 (ozone) which filled in the hole.

Saw a NASA display that correlated the holes in the ozone with sun spots. The sunspots moved on the suns surface and the ozone holes left with it.
