I’ve been buying the Ridgecut pants because I stain the shite out of all my mess around pants. For the price they are comfortable and durable.

Carhart has/had a diversity program. Took the emphasis off products.

I wear work clothes daily.
Henley and overalls when <80, short sleeve Dickies coveralls when >80. I'm retired, but I'm working on my farm, repairing shite in my shop or building furniture in my wood shop. Cutting trees, clearing brush, you name it.
Carhartt has gone downhill, as has Duluth Trading Company. I used to get 8-10 years out of food overalls, now 3-4.
Everything today is geared for disposability and cheap replacement, instead of quality and craftsmanship.

Had this problem too. Carhartt used to sell just a basic, made in Mexico, buy it at the coop or Academy for $30, 100% cotton, pair of jeans (B17s). Weren’t the longest lasting if you wore them everyday, but were the most comfortable and generally roomy for dudes without a flat butt.
They discontinued the model and I have tried its replacement, but whatever it is, it’s cut way too tight, shrinks, and the material is not the same.

Someone also mentioned it’s a fashion flex, there’s also a separate street wear line now. Carhartt WIP
Would love to be a fly on the wall at corporate having to balance two completely separate customer bases.

I ordered a couple of pairs to test if my theory is still true.
Yep, the model mentioned above is a great pair of canvas pants.
I also tried BN3279 and these are also very well made pants.
I also tried a couple pairs of Duluth and they are good, but thicker than I want.

Try Dickies from Wally World.
That’s right. Cheap and tough as nails. Anyone that suggests nuthugger pants is just walking around and calling it work. Those that actually do physical work aren’t concerned with modern fashion (i.e. skinny pants). Those same assholes should know that form follows function.

Hipsters

It became an in style, they offshored their production, and now they can sell it at higher prices to hipsters.

Solid bump.
I’ll try the ones you suggested. I just assumed that the canvas work pants I ordered were the same but obviously I got the hipster model.

Orvis, case in pernt.
I still buy them when they’re on sale for $10-15 at Costco. I have like 29 pair of Orvis and similar disposable pants. (Not to be confused with breakaway party pants.)

I went to my trusty Carhartt connection in Baton Rouge the other day and found out they are no longer carrying the thicker fabric of jeans either. They will only carry the thin fabric in the future. They had 2 pair of the older brand in stock and I bought both. I wear a pretty popular size and was amazed/surprised they had may size left.

Try out the Dickies work pants. They don’t wear out.
I have a couple of pairs of the Flex pants. Comfortable enough to wear daily. Tough enough to lash 2 pairs together and use them to pull a 1/2 ton pickup out of the mud

Wearing some now that I got for Christmas and they are thin and feel cheap AF. And they are expensive.
Pretty disappointed.

Did I order the wrong style or is this what Carhartt has become?
I think so. You can get a different model. What country are they made in now?
