Try out the Dickies work pants. They don’t wear out.

It isn’t just you. I’ve worn the same size pants my entire adult life. Have many old CH work britches that fit like a warm piece of puss. The new stuff my family got me for Christmas is way too tight and a terrible fit.
Not to hijack the thread, but Levi's are the same way.
I used to could buy the same size and style and be confident they would fit the same year after year.
I now have 4 pairs of 550's in the same waist/inseam, bought within a couple years of each other, and every pair fits differently.
Quality has gone to shite pretty much across the board.

Yep. I had to go up to 36 inch waist on Levi's to be sure they would fit as they vary enough some 34s are fine while others I can barely button.
Have worn 34/34s for decades.

Bought my first Kuhl shirt. Wore once. Hem started coming undone.
Wasn't impressed.

Yes, think you did order the wrong pants. Cathartt makes many different styles. The place I usually get them from only has those thin work pants. Probably good, but I'm waiting in the original thick duck weave pants. I have one pair that's tough as nails and I have another double knee pair I believe will be inherited by my son in law after I'm gone. Yes, they are that tough, MAGA Tough!!
MAGA Tough?

quote:I've been buying the Dickies Flex pants (never cared for the classic ones)from Walmart the past couple of years and I actually wear them as daily work pants and love them. I've yet to have a pair rip, fray, or fail in any way, and have only had to replace them after they became faded (wear black for work). And when I do replace them it's under thirty bucks. Have also had a few pairs of the Wrangler work pants from Walmart which cost around the same, and they're not nearly as sturdy.

I'm sure they're not as good as some of the brands suggested already. But... 30 bucks, dude.
Eta- and to add my anecdotal evidence to the 'Carhartt has gone downhill' narrative; I recently replaced my 10 year old Carhartt jacket with the exact same model, and it doesn't provide anywhere near the warmth of my old one. I worked winter nights in the rain in WA in my old one and stayed comfortable.I'm freezing my arse off in an AZ winter in my new one (high elevation, so usually 30 to 40 at night).

two pair of Carhartt work pants that I’ve probably had for 10+ years
they got wise, ain’t nobody staying in business if you get 10 years out of two pairs of pants

Carhartt made their employees try the jab. Screw them.

Origin Maine MOAB (Mother of All Britches.) Tough enough to be used on a ranch, but just classy enough I can wear them to the office. Stretchy too. They just restocked all the colors, too.

2+ on the recommendation for Duluth Trading Company Fire Hose pants. I have two pair I bought at their factory store in Red Wing, MN and I love them. One pair is insulated and came from the bargain basement. Very durable. Pockets are really roomy. Colors hold up well. Both pair are my go to pants when I go hunting.
My favored pants around the house or casual wear are "Gravel Gear," the store brand for Northern Tool. Sometimes they're also on Amazon. The one's I have are roomy (I don't remember if they're labeled "relaxed" or not) w/ many pockets like other carpenter jeans. I wear brown, green and gray ones for hunting instead of camo. Dickie's are ok, as well.

I've had excellent luck with their shirts, but their pants are still rugged as shite. Give 'er another shot!

Anyone remember a few years back when trendy urbanites "discovered" the Carhartt knit hats and they became boutique merchandise fetching boutique prices?

“The Carhartt beanie has become a millennial basic.”
That’s what Marian Park, an editor and trend specialist at WGSN, emailed me about the 31-year-old workwear classic that’s reached peak beanie ubiquity this winter. It’s tagged in 7,612 Instagrams. It’s on skaters in downtown Manhattan. It’s been photographed on Rihanna. It’s tied (with a pocket tee) for a spot as the brand’s top-selling item. In New York, it’s inescapable.
But how did we get here? Carhartt was a workwear company founded in 1889 in Michigan for railroad workers and blue-collar manual laborers. Its rise to the city streets and street-style cool seems like an unlikely turn. So how has something with such a rugged and utilitarian history — a brand beloved in Alaska and worn by Sarah Palin — become as popular among the same people you might otherwise find in color-blocked leggings and carrying an Outdoor Voices tote?

Bought two Carhart products this year. One a camo hoodie pullover and the other a down jacket with a hood. The hoodie was on sale, the jacket was not. I've never owned Carhart before and was really pleased with both, Especially the jacket during the snowstorm and cold temps. Warmer than my waterfowl jacket and it has a liner.

Try Dickies from Wally World.

I have started buying RedHead pants from Bass Pro Shop. So far I’m very pleased. They’re comfortable and durable. And come at a fair price.
Eta: I like their shirts as well.

A lot of workwear dropped majorly in quality when it became chic/en vogue.
Bass Pro bought out Cabela’s and dropped their premium workwear Roughneck” line and replaced it with their lightweight shitty Redhead label. You can still find some Roughneck stuff but if it doesnt have the embroidered Roughneck label it is later vintage and not quite as good.
You know it is good when you can find the used stuff selling for new prices on Ebay…
