Most people just seem to believe in God because of Pascal's wager.

But other than the fear of going to hell, why should you believe that God exists?

Moral compass

Take a look at the narcissism from people that don't believe anything is above them

Because of all the proof that Jesus existed
They keep finding things that prove the Bible is correct
When you’re saved you will have the Holy Spirit in you. It’s something that you have to experience to understand
You have a different kind of love in you
Prophecies are being fulfilled from thousands of years ago currently

I believe the idea that we are made by something greater than us is more appealing and makes more sense than everything just being random chance and evolutionary biology.

I do believe in evolution, btw. But I think its the physical blueprint of how God made things.

Because it’s illogical to observe such fine tuning in existence around us and think it occurred by accident. The question as to which God is the real one is another chapter entirely but fine tuning is a good place to start.

there is no evidence of a omniscient and all powerful being in the universe who favors hairless primates on an otherwise unremarkable and entirely unimportant speck of rock inside one of billions and billions of galaxies.

the universe does not play favorites

I responded before I thought about how much of a bat signal for the board atheists this thread is going to be. I suppose we will be joined by them shortly.

Meaning, purpose, faith.

Everyone serves a god. God, Jesus, Buddha, money, porn, food.

I don't know how I can look at my children and my wife and family, and experience birthdays and vacations, etc without feeling the total and complete love and self-worth that only a loving God could provide.

There's no way in this universe a human can feel as blessed as I do so often and there be no God above it all.

I feel loved and protected. I feel a kinship with Him. My rock.

What good reason is there NOT to believe?

These two ideas are contradictory though. The Bible will have you believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old. Evolution takes millions of years, therefore both cannot exist.

I don't understand how someone can witness all of the intricate designs of all the life on Planet earth, and what little we understand about our universe and not believe in God. To believe it all just happened by chance?

its worse than contradictory is completely illogical. if god is all powerful why would he start life on earth with single celled organisms? why not just cut to the chase?

the problem with an omnipotent god is that for he/she to favor human beings on planet earth makes him/her just as unremarkable as we are. my god is much, much bigger than that

There are only two possible outcomes when you die. Supernatural being theory or you are absorbed back into the universe's natural processes. Some believe they are the same.

On a most basic level, it’s far easier for me to believe in an intelligent creator than the Big Bang. From personal experience, when I decided to have a relationship with God and became intentional about pursuing that relationship, it became quite easy to see God’s hand in my life and all around. Do I always understand His plan in the midst of life’s storms? Of course not. But the vast majority of the time, with the benefit of hindsight, I see God’s goodness in all situations. I find it especially helpful to briefly journal about my struggles and prayer requests and then read back over them from time to time. It is very eye-opening to see how God works through situations in my life.

Not at all.

The Bible has easily disproven historical events throughout. It has stories that are meant to be taken as lessons and not as factual events. There is also a line about time being meaningless to God, "A day is 1,000 years and 1,000 years is a day" to God.

I think the creation timeline, if inspired by God, was irrelevant since time means nothing to God. But more likely that part was something man threw in when writing the Bible.

Its important to remember that the Bible is a collection of works of man, inspired by God. Not God himself being the editor necessarily.
