All the knife carriers I’ve known were country boys. It’s probably just about where you come from.

I always have had multiple knives, but never carried while I was in school because didn't want to get suspended. Didn't in college because several people I knew had the campus cops called on them for having one. Had one every day while active duty. Don't carry one anymore (unless I'm hiking) because of the same nosy fricking Karens that caused me to not carry one in college.

Or a steak knife. Cutting a steak with a pocket knife is gross and try hard.

Usually it's not a problem because of my 5.11 tac vest but I have to take it off for client meetings

Probably everyday I need a knife. Could be opening a box or cutting an apple. But ever since I scratched my brand new truck with my knife in my pocket I no longer carry.

I only carry custom machetes with exotic wood handles.

Yep.
We had a kid over from England doing training with us here in Alabama. He was shocked that nearly everyone carried knives. It's illegal for them to carry any type of knife in England.
I never really carried one until about 10 years ago. I can't imagine going anywhere without it.

I don’t keep one on me because I hate having stuff in my pockets, but I do like having one handy. Keep one in my office desk and one in my truck, so I’m generally covered.

You ever grilled a steak over an open fire while on a cattle drive? Ain’t no fancy steak knives or maitre d or napkins on the range

Really don’t need to cut anything considering majority of my time is spent with laptops and spreadsheets

Then I’ll explain to them the importance of a man needing a pocket knife.
They surely appreciate you imparting this wisdom on them

I'm making a point that yeah you can use a box cutter, but not everyone works in the stockroom and carries a frickin box cutter

Most guys I knew growing up carried one. My dad bought me my first Buck pocket knife at like 8 years old.
Yeah, I cut the shite of my hand when I first got it. Only did it once though
