My understanding is that they are fraternal organizations whose purpose is the betterment of its members, community service, and charitable giving.

Other examples include the Elks and Lion's Club.

Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes is another. Their leader was the Grand PooBah.

I worked with two Masons and they were some weird SOB’s. That’s all I got.

Or, in the case of the Leopard Lodge, Hardware Store owners.

The lodge is simply the place where the old men go for their weekly poker game.

They don’t have to put up with the nagging old wives complaining about the disruption to their daily routine and the cleaning/prep for visitors. They can freely drink beer and smoke cigars indoors. It gives them the excuse to get out of the house but without having to do any work/labor.

The lodge is the building where they meet.

I dont understand how the Masons are supposedly this shadowy secret society that all the important, powerful men in history were somehow part of, while simultaneously like half of the black guys out there driving fifteen year old Escalades have Mason stickers on their back glass.

The Masons that are truck drivers and pipe fitters that go eat pancakes on Saturday morning are not the same as the Masons of conspiracy lore.

Masonic Lodge is for the Masons. Wasn’t the Moose Lodge where Fred Flintstone went? My dad is or was a Mason. Not sure. Never really asked much about it. I remember when the members came by the house to interview him when he was trying to be a member. It’s not really advertised and is low key.

My dad has been a mason for 50 years and is locally as high in the organization as one can get. They just do a bunch of charity stuff. A few Saturdays where they cook and sell a bunch of pork butts, or have a fish fry and sell plates for $10.00. He is 82 and when he was younger, he played golf a lot with some of his lodge members. Other than that, I don’t think they do much of anything.
