All line dancing now.

Easy, low risk way to socially enjoy music. Though somewhat ironically utterly isolating, which is the antithesis of the original purpose of social dancing.

I still go out dancing all the time
We have clubs and pop up events with djs spinning house
We have Grateful Dead tribute bands to dance with the hippies
There’s a salsa club I sometimes go to

Line dancing is definitely still a thing, but I don’t do that

Average people got too fat to look good dancing. They don’t want to embarrass themselves.

Seems dancing might break them out of that funk. I can’t tell you how many dates came about from dancing. Need to air those kids out and socialize them. Maybe they won’t be so miserable.

Can you imagine the anxiety and stress of going up to a stranger and asking them to dance?

In the late 1980s and early 1990s Starz in Vinton, LA was happening for SETX and SWLA. Dance club that played industrial and club music…and had lots of narcotics available.

Thibodaux was awesome mid eighties. Would start off with dollar beers at Rox’s or Rene’s then walk over to The Max for music and dancing. Colonel’s Retreat, Iron Horse, and LeMarks were all in play too. Great memories

Younger folks as a whole do not. Us old folks who go out dancing on the regular (like last night) hate it when a local band gets popular and the hipsters show up. They just stand there right in front of the band with a drink in their hands, blocking the dance floor.

Saw this happen in every big city I've visited. Take the White Horse in Austin. Great honky tonk, music every night, and dancing except for Friday and Saturday - the hipsters come in around 9 and cover the dance floor just standing there.
