I'm easy going. Can't remember much of any of them bothering me in recent memory.
I guess it would be the ones who want to make too much small talk while my wife and I are trying to enjoy a meal.

The last purely service related issue that I can recall was when it seemed like the waiter seemed to start disappearing for longer and longer periods of time as the meal went on. Place was not busy. After waiting for what seemed like forever for the guy to show up so we could ask for our check, my friend went and talked to the manager. I think the guy was going out back smoking weed or something.

It was a tourist trap kind of place and we had a gift card so not a huge deal. Called the manager the next day to say it kind of sucked. Got an offer for a free meal with their best waiter if we would come back.

I have had several family members who have had to wait on tables so I am usually very forgiving if they have a few shortcomings. My biggest pet peeve is taking an inordinate amount of time to bring drinks to our table.

Let me finish a single bite.

What's more annoying to me is the manager/owner/whatever guy walking around trying to make conversation at every table

This.
Coffee cups are the worst. I had a waitress the other day pick up my cup by the rim. I stopped her and asked for another cup. She acted pissy, but she should have known better. My old man wouldn't even allow that shite at the house when I was growing up and had no problem telling you.

Get my order right and keep my drink refilled. Those are basically the only requirements I have of a waiter. It's pretty simple.

If they screw either of those up, then their tip is reduced.

Wouldn't you be annoyed if a server strongly recommended a food but when you ask about it they couldn't tell you anything about it, then went to ask about it but took a long time to get back to you?

My first real job was as a busboy at a Bonanza restaurant. I worked there all the way through high school. I can tell which waiter/waitresses are working their asses off and which aren’t, immediately. Even the bad ones usually get no less than 20% from me, because I’m not an a-hole.

A lot of people would consider that a good thing depending on the kind of place. Someone in management checking on the customers and asking for feedback is not usually a bad thing.

Only thing that bothers me is slow service, which is not necessary the servers fault.

I hate when they try to impress us by NOT writing down the order. Not talkin' simple orders, but if my wife is with me and her orders are sometimes a little picky.

Invariably, the half and half (sweet and unsweet) tea I order arrives as all sweet (I hate) or all unsweet (I can manage that). Or something is wrong with wife's order.

Once we have told you 5 or 6 things, just fricking write it down.

I guarantee you are the type of person who looks for reasons not to tip. Quit being a piece of shite.

This gives me mild anxiety.

I just know they're going to frick something up. And they always do.

Might be the first time I've ever agreed with you.

Nothing worse than people who go out to eat looking for crap to complain about and thus a reason to not tip well or be nice to the service people.

Yeah, but I don’t make comments and roll eyes like my wife will after she walks away

You’d think the waitress dissed my wife’s pralines at the junior league.
