That's cool. Restaurant talk is one of the few things I really give a damn about on here, so I've harassed you about your claim that Olive Garden sends chefs to Italy to learn about cooking and the general white knighting for any and all anti chain post on the food board.

Pretty much don't adjust my tip based on service. Always in that 15-25% of total including tax. I round, so wherever it falls pct wise, that's what they get. E.g: total bill of 26.02 will get tipped 4.98.

Just had one tell me today that their card machine has been down. And it's cash only....after everything was said and done...so I clarified....it was down all day...before we got there. Then I said okay, I will go to the bank right down the street....she said, no no, we have an atm right there....I laughed and said I will be right back and walked out..got the cash and came back 10 min later and paid the bill.
This just makes me want to maga more and more. This is the same way I came across a good barber...but he didn't say no no, atm right there....he said okay sir, or just catch up with me next time...bet your arse I went and got the cash to pay him so I could come back to quality service.

I hate waiters that wait too late to give you a refill, but on the flip side I hate it when they are too annoying and won't leave you the frick alone. Had this happen the other day. I had water and anytime the water level fell more than an inch from the top of the glass, she was running back over to top it off. I can't even enjoy my food without her coming over every couple of mins to pour me an oz or two of water.

Old people have been sharing this foe as long as the internet has existed, yet somehow over the course of living my entire life in Georgia and Alabama I've never actually seen it. Nobody asks for a Coke then has to clarify what kind. You order the drink you fricking want.
The only thing I’ve actually noticed close to this phenomenon is that every machine that sells soft drinks is a “coke machine.”

Ordered a bottle of Crown Royal and two Cokes from room service. Dumbass taking my order said it would be an hour. I asked why. There is nothing to prepare/cook. He then said "it will be right up". Idiot showed up with the liquor and cokes about 15 minutes later. No glasses, but he did bring salt and pepper and silverware.

It was a tourist trap kind of place and we had a gift card so not a huge deal. Called the manager the next day to say it kind of sucked. Got an offer for a free meal with their best waiter if we would come back.
I had the same expierence this past weekend. Seafood place with a big arse Sushi sign. We wanted a couple of rolls as an appetizer. Waiter said they ran outta rice. Orderd two dozen chargrilled oysters, a sampler with different ingredients. 30 minutes later, got regular chargrilled. Took forever to get our initial drink order of 2 beers, glass of wine, and a diet coke. 1 1/2 to get our fish entrees. Waiter never came back to see if we wanted more drinks. Manager came by and apologized for the long wait. Offered us a free round. Drinks never showed up. Waiter finally came back and we asked about the drinks the manager offered. The waiter had no idea what we were talking about.
2 hours, 2 drinks per person. Idiots.
Got back home, found the company website and the Director of Operations email and let him know our experience. To my surprise, he immediately responded, apologized, and wanted my address to send me some meal vouchers.

I hate it when they take your glass with them to go fill it back up and it has my straw in it.
