Parents live on the gulf coast and only 1 provider willing to insure but at 3.5k premium with a 1% deductible for a 400k home. What are you baws doing?

In my case, my home is paid for so I actually own it. I’m not required to have insurance.

Sounds like they can find insurance on their home.

As for "What do you do": If you have a mortgage on the home, you have to buy it. If you own it free in clear you either buy it or take the biggest financial gamble of your life.

Your state should have some sort of state-sponsored insurer of last resort.

Your parents don’t appear to be in that situation.

That’s cheap..We are taking it up the arse..I believe that’s what I pay or more and I’m 100+ miles inland. Only thing going for me is flat 1000$ deductible

Monthly or yearly? If that's the annual premium it seems very reasonable for the location.

That sounds nuts. Yes annual but that’s 300 a month just for insurance
