Well, it doesn't. I don't know what else to tell you, man. It just doesn't.

I live in Abita Springs and although, I'm 12-15 miles from the lake, I consider us living on the Northshore

How far North does the northshore extend? Folsom? Bush? Franklinton?

No further north than Folsom, Franklinton and Bush are different worlds compared to the Covington area.

As a Ponchatoula resident I couldn't care less. Too many people in St Tammany act as if their shite doesn't stink like they're from some highfalutin place. Yet Mandeville and Covington are still a couple of po-dunk towns in Louisiana littered with strip malls and chain retail outlets.

I was talking to this old woman a few years ago at an airport bar and she didn’t ask me where I’m from but she started to explain the Northshore to me as if I’d never heard of it.
She was telling me it was the wealthiest suburbs in the USA with some of the best schools in the country.
I’m guessing this woman doesn’t travel much and has no idea what surrounds cities like NYC, DC, Boston, Chicago, and etc.
I didn’t even bother bringing up Chevy Chase, MD or Greenwich, CT.
She also made it sound like it was walking distance to New Orleans. I don’t know if she was delusional or just talking shittte to sound more impressive.

What would be the difference between The NorthShore and The NorthSide ? If the causeway takes you to an area immediately north of the Lake then you are on the north shore.

It sounds to me that she wanted to yank your snake before you boarded your flight.

To answer the original question, I would consider St. Tammany only as the Northshore. I would limit it to the Madisonville/Mandeville/Lacombe/Slidell stretch as well. Definitely not Hammond, Amite, or Washington Parish. I’ve only heard New Orleans newscasters call those areas the Northshore.

She’s a New Orleans transplant trying to make it sound like a continuation of NOLA. She needs to go back

Northside is a ghetto school in the Lafayette area. The northshore is God’s gift to Louisiana.

Not really, but it’s a fine place to live

My Grandfather always said the Weekenders, from New Orleans, said Covington was North Shore. When I was a kid, there really was a feeling that Mandeville and Covington were polar opposites. Mandeville was North Shore and Covington was St. Tammany.

I run into lots of people from other places on a regular basis. Almost all the people I encounter from the Northshore tell me they are from New Orleans, and after I ask what part they say the Northshore.
Pretty much everyone east of Hammond and east of Prarieville claim New Orleans as home.

They just need to rename US190 Airline Hwy and call it Metairie. That's what it's turned in to.

That’s because most people aren’t familiar with the small town/suburban/metropolitan geography surrounding New Orleans and it’s just easier to say Nola

Back when I worked in Metry, and I lived in Hammond, if someone asked me for a ride to the north shore I’d be ok with it. If, when we went to leave they said it was actually Slidell, they’d be looking for another ride.
