Not my answer, but I was thinking about Toys R Us just today.
I was in there like days before they closed and they had two workers who looked like they loved their jobs, asking me if I needed help finding anything. I said something like - maybe, there’s so much cool stuff here. And one of those guys said - I know!
Thinking back about that story makes me sad for all those employees.

Drove past the location on Vets and Division this afternoon and thought the same thing. Used to love taking the nephew there on a Saturday morning. It really brought back memories. Employees really seemed to like their jobs and were always super helpful.

Wal Mart
Because then the people of Wal Mart would spread out and shop elsewhere :shudders:

Rockport because I love their dress shoes and sneakers. They did file for protection so I hope they pull through. Order two spare sets of dress work shoes just in case.

Sears
LINK ]Mr Sears Catalog
One of my favorite American Experience documentaries. Ostensibly a biography of Richard Sears, this is actually the story of how the "Wish Book" brought the world to isolated rural farmers around the turn of the last century. The Wish Book and The Bible were often the only two books in some farm homes.

You goddamn right. How many times are you going to ask me? I am sorry you take it so series and can't let it go.

That's actually a really good question. I can't think of anything I'm so attached to that isn't replaceable.
It would probably be my neighborhood bar across the street. I'd legitimately be upset about that.

Then would anyone care what you have to say since you are a self admitted liar.

Barnes and Nobles.
Something about that place gives me the feels, and I would be bummed to think generations of people would never see the inside of a book store. So many stories and adventures hang on those walls.

None because it's part of capitalism. If something is able to be profitable it will always exist. If a company goes bankrupt its usually one of two reasons. It was poorly managed or there is no longer a demand for whatever it provides.
Jesus, you cant even do the good, fun threads right.

I worked for Sears when I first got out of school. It was a mighty company that just outlived itself. As a former employee, it’s sad to watch it’s demise.

Enron because they were despicable liars and because of all of the employees whose retirement accounts became worthless, and because some people (Lou Pai) got off Scott free
