I think this likely applies to my situation. We have an old pier and beam house that has experienced settling over the years, making the floor not level. I'd like to have someone come take a look at it to get their thoughts on adding shims to the low spots.
Do y'all have anyone in mind that I should try contacting for this kind of thing?
Any other advice for me? Does this create a lot of cracks in sheet rock or plaster or any other issues I may not have thought of yet?

re: Anyone know the backstory of the "medical salesman" always begging along Bluebonnet?
Posted by Belly on 7/27/22 at 2:54 pm to TigersSEC2010
Not sure his backstory but that guy approached me in front of the circle K on the corner of Bluebonnet/coursey and airline, where I was stopped at a red light.
This was on Christmas Eve, so he incorporated that into his act. Said he was trying to get back to Jackson MS to his family for christmas but that his car was at the lake hospital here in BR. Adamant about how he's not a bum and works in medical sales. I just started driving off when the light turned green.

One day late for sinkhole de mayo
Even more impressive considering all the BR bullets she's dodged over the years.

re: Yet another ROTH conversion question
Posted by Belly on 3/3/21 at 9:28 pm to LSUFanHouston
Another scenario:
TIRA (and all other traditional) balance is at zero on December 31, 2020
Need to make non-deductible TIRA contribution for 2020 (between Jan 1 and April 15, 2021--wish I had done it before year end but here we are) to convert to roth.
Also pretty sure that 2021 will need the same treatment.
Question is this: can I contribute (right now) $12,000 total ($6k for 2020 and $6k for 2021), and immediately convert all of this to roth? I realize this should require form 8606 for both tax years, but I just wanted to make sure there's nothing wrong with converting 2021 kind of early in 2021. TIA.

Last year, I booked lift tickets through liftopia. When the resorts closed and cancelled due to rona, liftopia only issued me a credit instead of giving money back. Right now, I am not seeing places that I could use the credit this season. Anyone have insight or experience? I'm wondering if I should keep checking what's offered or just kiss that money goodbye.
If you're still insurable and/or reasonably healthy, look at quotes for new term policies. If you can't get another policy but truly need coverage, go with permanent conversion if affordable.
re: 529 Plans - Are they worth the investment for Children?
Posted by Belly on 8/3/20 at 9:09 pm to tigersfan1989
So for financial aid, the 529 assets count as parental assets, or is it the owner of the account? I am trying to figure if this would be reason enough for a grandparent maintaining their own account for a grandchild. Am I overlooking something?
re: Should I move from pre-tax to ROTH?

Agreed on the Roth being taxed at marginal rate, but why would the traditional withdrawals down the road be taxed at the effective rate instead of marginal like Roth?
re: What's the smallest house that you could tolerate living in?
Posted by Belly on 7/21/20 at 1:59 am to cubsfan5150
Have already lived in 950 square feet with wife and one child. Wasn't very tolerable so I would guess around 1100 or 1200 square feet.

I know there are many variables, but how do the loan underwriters tend to view someone's earnings when they recently switched to a 1099 work arrangement (as opposed to w2)? Do they want that kind of income to be consistent for a certain amount of time? Excellent credit.
Gus Fring could have fixed 'em up.
Is there a rule of thumb on death benefit advancement? I could be way off but I was under the impression the advancement on death benefit was if a physician thought the insured would die within twelve months.
Also, what portion of the death benefit do insurance companies generally allow for this?

I'd drive an extra couple hours for Costco.
You scoop them up while they're still alive? Frick that.
Regardless of how he died, lots of "woke" people want Chauvin to be responsible for his death is what I meant.
