Sagesure is writing.
Daughdrill in Westlake did mine. 6 months before Laura after a hailstorm. Didn't lose a shingle. Me or.my neighbor who gave me their name the firat time.
Had them replace it again after Laura since insurance paid to replace it.

I don't see ever being able to cash in a roof warranty. I'm told its basically impossible for shingle companies to pay you and the labor is always subjective.
Yea manufacturers will do all they can to void a roof warranty. It is really absurd the lengths they will go to in order to avoid it. Owens Corning had a major manufacturing issue 5 or 6 years ago that they knew about and still tried to deny claims.

You got someone who can redo a shower at a good price? I'll take that contact. Got a leak and needs to bust out tile, fix leak. Wholesale remodel. I bought the materials already.
Yea, let me check tomorrow to see what he has going on. He can do waterproofing withe either the schulter system or wtih Redgard and his tile work is outstanding.
Did this set up for me a while back in a remodel.

What’s a ballpark difference in cost between a roof and a fortified roof? Also, what do they do to the roof that makes it fortified?
Thicker sheathing potentially if you want Gold but to re-roof it's typically taping the sheathing seams, two layers of felt and an upgraded drip edge

Higher wind rating for the shingles.
Water impermeable barrier underlayment.
Ring shank nails.
Additional nails per square.
Inspections.
Cost is likely 10 to 20% more is what I hear for a large roof. Higher increase for smaller roofs due to economies of scale and mostly fixed costs for inspections.

Goosehead has been writing a lot of policies from what I have been told.
I am going to get them to quote when my renewal comes up because my current policy went up $3500 after they came out and did a revaluation on my house two months ago.

Thanks Stout. You still have my email? If not I can send it to you.

Interesting. I can apply for a $10,000 grant through the State to fortify the house. Limited to LC area. Opens Sept 18th.

Shoot it to me again. I doubt I have it saved.

Allstate is cheaper than most these days

Allstate was terrible for my family following Katrina.

I just switched to them in August
My Safeco policy doubled when it renewed on Aug 1

Close friend of mine runs one of the Goosehead branches in LC. They’re a broker so the insurance isn’t directly with them, but they can definitely get you setup. He actually told me the other day that insurers have been coming back after all dust has settled from the doom and gloom.

Why? You will have material receipts as proof. Nothing says you can't act as your own GC on your own house in Louisiana.
Hire a licensed roofer so you avoid that issue. But more importantly, make sure the person you hire has contractor’s general liability because if they install something wrong and your roof leaks, your homeowner policy likely will deny a claim from faulty workmanship and your recourse is claiming against the contractor’s GL.

I got a better quote from sagesure than Goose by a significant amount, roof is only 2 years old though

Got quoted by Allstate for almost half of what I have now with Safeco. Similar coverage. Safeco treated me good for Laura and Delta but they're pricing themselves out. Will check w Goosehead on Monday. State Farm is not writing homeowners at the moment is this area.

Same for dad's house. He died but we kept it going until everything is settled.
Well they doubled.
Gooshead and Sagesure were writing and comparable. Waiting final numbers but looks like Sagesure will beat them. They are close.

Why are you replacing an 8 year roof ?
Posted on 9/6/24 at 10:43 pm to DiamondDog
Try goosehead .. they wrote us through elevate (maybe safe sure??) last year. Either way, this years premium went up only like $25.
We used Austin Luke in Youngsville.

You haven't lost anything. I've lost complete confidence in them.
I got bald spots on my roof and they continue to deny there is more than 7 shingles worth of damage. You can see the underlayment.
SF has lost their way.
