I have a job opportunity in McKinney. Will be moving with a wife and a four year old. Any areas to avoid? Housing and school outlooks?

Congratulations! Where are you moving from? There a bunch of posters here with good knowledge of the Dallas suburb areas. Hope your move goes smoothly.

McKinney is a very nice area but pretty far from Dallas, basically as far as Fort Worth is, but in the northeast direction. The housing is much more affordable compared to Dallas proper, and the schools are better. McKinney isn’t a bad place to raise a family overall.

Have several friends who live there and love it. But they are from Tx to begin with.

It's very decent, live on a golf course and you'll be set.

It’s your typical Texas suburb. Good public schools, lots of chain malls and 200-500k houses

Congratulations again! Just keep checking back on this thread. There are several dozen who moved from Louisiana to the Dallas suburb who post on here. They will have some great advice.

This. It's growing fast and is a good family town with decent amount of things to do for adults. Just stay away from the pool parties and you'll be good.
