I moved from the M streets to Addison like 7-8 months ago and I’m the same now unless it’s for work or a Stars/Mavs game.

I am only south of 635 to get to DFW Airport lol.

HQ relocated to just north of 635.

OP, to get from Custer to 35E will take you 25min. Add 10-15 more to get to DFW airport.

Welcome to my heaven known as north Dallas.

I don't care that y'all brag about wanting to stay in suburbia.

Nice regular Dallas suburb. Next to frisco. Straight shot down 75 30 or so miles. it's in Collin County next to Plano, and Frisco, which just got some nod for being the top growing city in the US or some shite. Toyota HQs helping that out, and Jerah hyping his investments in the area.

Biggest negative i'm hearing about right now....lots of Indians moving in the area. Not far north from the Richardson growth in the Bush/75 area, so lots of tech in that area. With UTD, and TI down the road some from Mckinney. Apparently they are planning on building a 25k criquet stadium up that way, so yeah more than just a few.

I dont have issues with Indians, but they are so different within themselves it's interesting. I get along with some at work very well. Great people. And others are just so stuck on their old countries ways. They piss the ones I get along with off too. Some just assimilate better than others. Know some people with kids in McKinney schools, and definitely have the same impression.

I’ve lived in Addison, Plano, McKinney, and Frisco. McKinney has been my favorite, hands down, especially when families are concerned. I would advise living in northwest McKinney but make sure you are in McKinney ISD, not Frisco. Downtown is cool, Adriatica’s unique, and there’s a laid back country vibe. The APEX center is great, especially during the summer. Kids here still play football and soccer is not as popular as the surrounding suburbs. The fireflies are plentiful in the summer.

Just get a house in Wellington Point and be done with it.

No one has mentioned Prosper yet.

And vice versa. Been like that for a long time though. Inner vs Outer Loopers.

Man you LSU peeps be racist. I currently doubt the criquet stadium is built in the location they want. It was on the news here, lots of mad home owners are against it.

Man, you are going to be very happy with your decision.

I live here now. With a family, McKinney is going to be very high up there for great places to take your family and raise young children, not just in Texas, but anywhere in America. It's way up there.

Great schools
Clean city
The trashy folks ratio is extremely low

What else do you need to know? Any specifics?

ETA: With the job in McKinney, there's a plethora of other similar towns just as nice as McKinney, or at least in that same realm. Frisco/Plano/Allen.

Your best bet may be to look in the Prosper/Celina area as it's rapidly growing but still in the somewhat early stages(especially Celina) and now would be a good time to buy a home and watch the value likely skyrocket in the next 10-20 years.

The only time I go out of 635 besides work is to visit my or my wife's family. There's not really a point.

If you live on the west side you can live and Mckinney but be in Frisco ISD.
This is money advice right here, and what I did.

I live in McKinney, maybe 1-2 minutes from the Frisco border. McKinney is certainly a fine ISD but Frisco is even better, and my kids are in Frisco's ISD.

McKinney is so 2008. Pilot Point is the next up and coming DFW suburb.

Excellent post! Glad there has been several good posts for the OP. I was afraid it would turn into a TX bashing thread.

Why's that? Just curious.

When I did my research 3 years ago when we moved here, while you really can't argue too much against either, Frisco seemed to always grade out a tad higher than McKinney.

Just curious to hear your thoughts and what you may know that I may not know.

Plano - Once a suburb star, Plano is dated. Most development is old, especially East and Central. Any new development in Plano is far West which would make it the longest drive to McKinney. Stay away from East and most of Central Plano.

Plano is older and not as new and shiny as what is going on in Frisco and McKinney. West side Plano is great.

This area comes up here and there on the OT. And while there's a few of those types of posts, I think the former born and raised Louisiana folks that now live in the area are so enamored and have nothing but nice things to say, that we eventually just take over the thread and the ones who want to bash get annoyed with us and move on.

I haven’t lived there or spent enough time to know about housing or schools but I am very familiar with nearby areas & DFW generally speaking. That being said, you are in a good situation and I’m sure you will find exactly what you’re looking for because McKinney doesn’t seem to have many negatives at all.

DFW is the shite and you’ll love it. Congrats!

True, the overqualified have options thus move out of state.

A buddy of mine is a dentist there. Lives there with his wife and kids. They love it. If you need a dentist check out Valley Creek Dental Care. Dr. Parker is from Baton Rouge.

Valley Creek Mall was our go-to lunch spot when we wanted to check out the stay at home Milfs 19 yrs ago.

I hated North Dallas on up back then. I would love it as a parent.
