Seems like many on this board live in the DFW area. Were you born and raised there or moved for jobs from a different state?

I moved because I spent my youth in small town La and wanted to adventure out after college. I then decided that I liked Texas and made a home of it, got married, purchased a house and had a kid.

I enjoy going back home for short periods but my small town still looks like it did when I was in the 5th grade.

I agree. And, OP, brace yourself for a culture shock. Louisiana is like the Tiger Rant, negativity abounds. Texas is like the posts above--optimistic, proud . . . everything is bigger, better, awesome, good, excellent in the words of the posts above. It's a different world here.

frick no....I mean the county might be but none of the cities are. Plano legalized liquor stores a couple of years ago. Beer and wine have always been sold. OP is an idiot.

Allen allowed liquor in the last couple years. Total wine went in at 75 and Stacy. Specs is building right there now. Specs is also on 380 east of McKinney in Lowry crossing.

With the way every town flows together, you're not too far from a liquor store when you're in McKinney or Frisco. They build them on the borders for a reason.

Yeah...used to be the closest place to buy liquor if you lived in Collin was Addison. That's why they have that whole concentration of liquor stores off Beltline

There'll probably be a John Wayne style airport in McKinney sooner than later.

The demand is there but supposedly the powers that be that run DFW and Love don't want it. The airport is already there.

I’ve lived in Mckinney for over ten years
now...best place out of 7-8 I’ve lived...
Some incorrect info has been rightly debunked regarding it being dry and them having cheaper than dirt guns store(it’s a breakfast place now)...but most of the info is correct. Place is growing like crazy, housing prices are climbing rapidly but still lots of options...if you want an older home in a tree filled neighborhood hood, go east of 75...but most options including lots of new Nieghborhiods are west...I live in Stonebridge Ranch and the value of my house has climbe about 140k since I bought...schools are great, no crime, trails, dog park nice people...if you work in Mckinney, living in Mckinney will be like a dream scenario.
