Most single guys my age with no kids, usually nothing great, a lot of self destructive tendencies. Not saying that's the case for all, just a large percentage I've come across.

Never married
I assumed OP was talking about married folks. If you aren't married and don't want to be a single parent then you are smart not to have a kid.

Anecdotally, the people I know with the most money and who are accomplishing the most with their time..also have children.
Yeah raising children takes work and effort. Do you think your purpose in life is to save yourself from work and effort? Anyway, to each his own.

I don't get why anyone would really give a shite.

Right.
The problem is that the people the make actual fiscal or future determinations on whether they want children are the people that absolutely need to be having children.
The simple basic idea of even considering the responsibility of a child is lost on far too many people procreating at the moment.

I usually assume this is the case and never judge people. Whether it be medical related or they just like the freedom doesn’t matter. I do feel for the couples that want a child and struggle to conceive.

I buy tools and build/fix things.

Late 30s. No kids.
But I’m also not married. I’m not one of these people that want kids just to have kids. I only want them if the situation is right.

It's better to not be a parent at all than being a shitty or neglectful parent. Or someone who can't afford it. Some people really don't need to be parents and if they are self aware enough to know that and make the call to just not have them, sounds pretty responsible to me.

I'm 33, and don't have kids, and don't plan to in the near future. I just have no desire to take care of a child right now.

I don't have kids but fully intend to. I respect the decision of those that don't, to each their own.
Although, I do think most of the people in my social circle that don't/won't have kids probably should be passing on their genes. I worry that they will contribute to the demise of humanity, like the couple at the start of Idiocracy.

i like them better than the people who neglect their kids and/or raise them in a broken home.

Out of around 8 billion people on the planet, over 7 billion probably qualify as idiots. Mostly because the wrong people(people that don't even care to be parents) seem to have the most kids.

So I have an idea that would never actually be proposed IRL cuz it would be "offensive" but we should incentivize sterilization.
Hear me out, if you are on welfare and get "fixed" prior to having kids, you get welfare as if you are supporting 3 kids.
If you have a kid and get "fixed" after the first kid, you get welfare for 2 kids.
If you have a second kid you lose the benefit.
It would not be mandatory and IMO would drastically lessen the amount of people on welfare within 1 or 2 generations.

Yes. This.
I don't really care if people choose to have kids.
But the chick in the office next to me is a good example of a couple that should absolutely have kids, but are currently leaning to not have kids. Her and her husband are young, successful, and intelligent. They should be the people we encourage to have kids.
I jokingly tell her that she is not fulfilling her society obligation to have smart kids, but like most jokes, there is some truth to it.

About the same as I care about how big/small a house they have or what type of care they drive, generally not my business.
But I will add most I know personally weren't able to have kids for medical reasons or got married later in life and decided against it. However, this is not the information most people volunteer to strangers and there are generally no fake social media holidays like national "we wanted to have kids but something is wrong with my body and my insurance doesn't cover IVF and we don't have a space 50K around to try" day.

As someone who doesn't have children, and not by choice, it's upsetting to see idiot parents who treat their children as tax writeoffs when we weren't able to conceive or adopt (financial issues before and now, we're too old since we're in our mid-40's).
