It's been in-person since day 1.

Students wear masks when walking to/from class, but not while seated in class. For recess, each class has a designated play area so they don't intermingle with other classes.

Parents are supposed to check the child's temperature every morning and if it's elevated, keep them home. Also, if your child shows symptoms (they provided a list), keep the child home.

Our child has a runny nose and is sneezing (likely a mild cold) a lot, so we kept her home today.

The kids at the school really haven't been negatively impacted.

My daughter's school had one teacher test positive back in August. That's the only issue they've had since opening back up in July. No masks for kids or any such nonsense like that.
As far as I know we’ve had a couple kids from the football team test positive back in August but haven’t heard anything else since. And they wear masks every day. My son caught it from football back in early August and that’s how I got it, from him

Still all online here. And the infrastructure sucks. My son spends half his day getting kicked off the network and trying to log back in.

We’ve had two reports is kids in our high school testing positive
Only thing that happened is email was sent to parents to notify them and no additional kids have been asked to stay home

I believe this is the same all over La. If you had prolonged contact within 6 feet of a confirmed positive, you have 14 days.

In Mississippi, one of our boys just had a confirmed positive case last week in a class; no changes made for anyone else in the class, although they did send an email to the parents to let us know.
They also only attend classes in person Mon-Tue and Thu-Fri. Wednesday is virtual learning across the board. That would be tough for families with younger kids.

Up here anyone that sits within 6 feet of a person that tests positive must stay home for 14 days. Even if asymptomatic; even if they test negative.
Are these rules similar around the state?

That is the current guideline from the CDC (within six feet for more than 15 minutes).

In Louisiana, a school that failed to follow this policy would lose its statutory immunity from suit.

My daughter's school gave us the option to do virtual but I'd say maybe 15% of the parents choose that option. I had her arse there 20 minutes early on the first day

She doesn't have any siblings around her age and needed to be around other kids, Rona or not.

If your kid complains about any Ailment ...i have a stomach ache or i have a head ache ( both of which my 6 yr old has told her teacher about....the headache incident was 45 min before end of school)...then that child and all siblings are sent home for mandatory 24 hrs and can only come back with a negative covid test - within 14 days

I'm hoping they're back for spring but not holding my breath.

Yep, the problem with a school like West Monroe is that there are 2,000 students. You take one student that tests positive and you're sending home about 20 patients due to "close contact". 50 students test positive and there goes half the school.

My K child is currently quarantining for 14 days because his teacher came down with it. They sit at their desks with masks on and plastic desk shields in front of their computers. The teacher stays at her desk and talks to them through her computer because she is also teaching the virtual kids.

My other child that goes to the same school is allowed to continue to go to school even though they share the same room at home. This approach is definitely not science based.

We got the call today that someone in my kid’s middle school class tested positive. Now she has to stay home for 14 days. Ugh.

That's the policy at my school here in AZ. We've been in person since Monday last week, had a couple students come down with Covid and like 40 kids got quarantined for 14 days yesterday.
