Up here anyone that sits within 6 feet of a person that tests positive must stay home for 14 days. Even if asymptomatic; even if they test negative.
Are these rules similar around the state?

Are kids even getting it anymore? When our school started in August I heard of one kid getting it in the 2nd or 3rd week. Nothing since.

I think the policy should be don't ask, don't tell.

That's what's going to end up happening. Kids are going to come school sick for fear of repercussions of testing positive. And that's how the spread will really occur.

My son has been in school for 9 weeks. You wouldn’t even know covid is a thing besides sitting every other chair in the lunch room.

My kids go all day every day and we have heard nothing in regards to an uptick in Covid cases. I guess it just disappeared.

School is back to normal. The only restrictions are on parents' interactions with the main office and teachers. Checkout policy and teacher/parent meetings are different. Class sizes are small (15 kids or so) and I think they eat lunch in their classrooms but they still go outside for recess.

Wear the mask or get a detention. The football coach doesn’t make them run for that infraction though.

My kid has been back at school for well over a month with most kids on campus and I haven't heard a peep about any kids getting the Rona. They have to wear masks and do the ridiculous forehead scanning thing when I drop her off.

these are the rules, but I don't think that is being strictly enforced in most schools

Yet, I as a physician, can test positive 2 days after getting sick, and could be back at work taking care of immunocompromised ICU patients a week later.
CDC is making no sense here.

Kids have been in school for 7 weeks now, wearing masks and having some stupid arse zones that each class has to stay in for recess.
Haven't heard a peep about the Rona. I'd prefer they quit being dumbasses and let the kids live a normal life again and let them actually play with each other.

I've been pleasantly surprised how well my kids school has handled everything

although our school does recess, they just have to stay in certain areas, which according to my 7 year old, nobody cares about either

They check kids temps at the car at drop off (elementary level) and require mask from car to class room. Masks moving from class to class, if applicable. No public water fountain so they ask parents to pack a bottle of water for kids to drink throughout the day. Kids desks/tables are a little more spread out.

They just started tray lunches again a couple weeks ago. They were requiring kids to bring their own lunch but now it's either or.

Other than those no other major changes.

It seems like they are trying to make is as normal as possible at our school once the kids are confirmed no fever and in the classes. Which I think is nice.

I believe this is the same all over La. If you had prolonged contact within 6 feet of a confirmed positive, you have 14 days. The incubation period an be a long time is the reasoning that the negative test is inconsequential

I agree. That's our experience as well.

Forgot to add this to my post as well, same thing with our school. They don't really enforce it to much either from what our son says.

Masks all the time. Not a single case from a student at the school in over a month. Had a couple of high school teachers catch it.

Ruel at my kids school is if a kid gets it, that class is quarantined for 14 days. Any siblings will also need to be quarantined for the 2 weeks, but their class will not unless they were showing symptoms as well.

So far the 2 times the school has had to deal with it this school year it was a teacher the first time and an aide the second time.

In the case of the teacher/aide, they would quarantine the class until they can review the security footage. If they can limit it to kids that were within 6' of the teacher/aide for 15+ minutes; they would then allow the other kids to return. If the parents wanted to keep their kids out for the remaining time, it would not count against the kids (but they would not get the refund for being held out for those in Pre-K).

My kids go to different schools.

Kid 2: Any exposure to someone with Covid (just close contact) the kid will stay at home and needs a negative test after 5 days to return. Kid will do online school during that time. If the kid had actual cross contamination like eating or drinking from same plate or drink of someone then they will be required 14 day stay. If positive for covid, then they follow cdc guidelines so 10 days after symptoms and 48 hrs fever free. He also has to wear a friggin mask all day.

Kid 1: They really don't have a protocol except if you are sick, don't come. If test positive then 10 days after symptoms and 48 hrs fever free. No masks. Just about everyone in his senior class has had it now. But it's a small private school so we're only talking about 17 people or so. He was only symptomatic feverish for 3 days. No positive test because we know better and girlfriend had one so we knew what it was without having to ground the whole football team.

All these teams needed to get the kids together and get exposure before the season started IMO. Some have done just that and don't have to miss games and time.

My daughter's school had one teacher test positive back in August. That's the only issue they've had since opening back up in July. No masks for kids or any such nonsense like that.
