It doesn’t bother me but a little overboard in my opinion. You aren’t forced to fly so if it makes you that uncomfortable don’t.

People are soft and getting softer. There no dispute about that.

Service animals are great - they know they are ‘working’ and don’t usually make a sound or disturb anyone or anything. They are trained for the specific task on hand and it shows.

ESA is a load of shite. Well ... I think they should be trained as a service animal for the most part. There are probably people that really need that. But the ones I’ve dealt with were just causing trouble.

They don’t need to fly. If you had 5-10 people allergic to dogs, it is not fair to make them suffer by putting that pet on a plane just so one person can have their support.

Spock was right. Folks need to toughen the hell up.

It’s just people who want to take their dogs places. If you get your dog through the course you can take it anywhere.

It’s not necessarily because people need them.

Anyone who requires an animal for “emotional support” and not a legitimate disorder is a puss who shouldn’t be flying. And I only consider PTSD legit in the case of vets.

Hey Karen, if the animal isn't actually bothering you stop worrying about it and stop calling the manager to complain.

I’m for em’. More animals, fewer people. I’d rather hang out with a cool dog on a flight than an annoying human.

Around Thanksgiving, I flew for the first time in years and the four airports I went through all looked like veterinarian offices. One guy’s German Shepherd had WW2 flashbacks and started growling and lunging at a Southwest gate worker (guy was black, to boot).

People in masks, dogs off leashes, people blasting music on their phones or screaming on speakerphone, half-naked toddlers running around. I dunno, I no longer recognize this country and all of it reaffirmed my choice to quit going out.

I fly a lot and never once have I been inconvenienced by an emotional support animal. I have been inconvenienced by plenty of a-hole humans though. frick You and your bratty kids. Gimme’ dogs on my flight any day.

Idk but Wednesday we had screaming toddlers in front of us that cried and kicked the seat all the way from Nola to Denver. Parents never even attempted to control it. Then one shite itself and the wife insisted on changing it right there on the food tray.

Don’t really see how a little yorkie sitting on an old lady’s lap can be worse than that. Most of them are well behaved and you forget they’re even there.

I don’t think animals belong in public places with the only exception being where they are absolutely necessary (for the blind for instance) and even then shouldn’t be allowed in restaurants. Emotional support is not a good enough reason for me to have to sit next to an animal on a flight and I think people who become overly attached to animals have mental issues (that goes for pet owners no matter if they bring them in public or not).

Why can't you have an emotional support hooker? I can 2 or 3 if I like. But, you can't expect that calling a sex worker an emotional support animal will get you out of paying for a second plane ticket!

I was at a funeral and a guy brought a massive pit bull in an ESA harness. He had to sit off by himself—perhaps due to his issues but I think more because the animal looked dangerous. The funeral home directors looked none too pleased.

People that bring dogs everywhere are the worst. How pathetic are you that you need a dog at your side all the time.

It has really helped our friend. She was violently assaulted and raped. It really helped her to
control her PTSD and anxiety.

Alaska airlines is the first airline to ban emotional support animals. Good for them.

quote:

Alaska Airlines will soon ban emotional support animals from flights, becoming the first major U.S. airline to do so after the Department of Transportation revised its regulations earlier this month about what constitutes a service animal.

Beginning Jan. 11, Alaska will only allow service dogs, which it defined in a press release as dogs that are " specially trained to perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability," including psychiatric service dogs, the airline said Tuesday in a news release
