You stick a hose in the pot, then bring the other end to the storm drain, and start sucking.

Get a siphon going and there ya go.

You got downvoted because you're talking over most of the goobers heads in this place. Guess they never syphoned gas out of the family vehicle to fuel the go-cart when they were kids.

The worst thing is it’s not a shrimp boil or fish fry.

The best thing is the beer/socializing.

The worst is clean up afterwards

Clean up isn’t bad. You should have almost all the boiling stuff cleaned while the pot is soaking. Plus you will always get more help cleaning up before people eat.

And a little forethought with garbage bags and setting the table up for easy clean up should make that take no time.

Why the hell are you having crawfish inside your home?

Boiled crawfish is way better than both of those things.

That is one of the hidden benefits of having a camp, almost all the smelly stuff goes straight in the water. The gulls, grackles, and crows appreciate it too.

I’ve been wearing gloves when eating them this year. I feel like a weirdo but my fingers don’t stink after. I hate for my hands to smell but love crawfish.

Murphy’s oil soap will get the smell off guaranteed. After cleaning fish or eating crawfish or shrimp. Works like a charm.

The best thing is the boil

The worst thing is the freeloaders who show up, eat, don't bring anything and then tell you how they would have done it

How did you end up in Iowa?

Lived in Iowa at HS graduation, after a stint in the military I married a Lafayette girl while we were both in west Texas, she chose Iowa to live in after we were married. I ended up at LSU for grad school.

How is it? I’ve heard it’s a pretty nice place to raise a family, actually.

Like most places it is what you make of it, It has good (low crime, little "culcha" - but Chicago has its influence, etc.) it was a great place to raise a family if you want slow life and a lot of unhealthy people around.

I use a small submersible diesel transfer pump on a jump pack for power.

The best is when the host takes the crawfish out the hot water and shakes a can of Tony’s on them. That’s how you know they’re full of flavor.
