How? You just hide money so then it isn't taxed? Tax evasion is real smart.

Dude just completely outed himself on a public forum for tax evasion. Not real smart move. IRS routinely uses analytics to scan the internet for these types of posts. I’ve read about them using IP addresses and then auditing the people associated with the IP address. Crazy shite.

I know more than a few retired or semi-retired business owners who have trustworthy managers working for them and the retirees are realizing annually deep six figure returns from their businesses while not having to be there at the business.

Trustworthy & competent managers are somewhat expensive (OP, are you listening?) and you are correct that the business owner must have caution as to their managers’ honesty.

And they all post here! Who would’ve thought, a message board centered in a very non-affluent area of the country would have so much wealth. It’s almost statistically improbable.

Only the toes knows Mingo. Not even an anonymous message board.

And if you have to ask how to hide money I suggest keeping your job as an employee. I risk my livelihood daily yet I reap the benefits. I pay my fair share in taxes. Not a penny more.

This is pretty accurate. I am a divisional commercial sales manager who has been in my industry since 97. I get paid a salary of $140k and can get up to a 20% bonus for another $28k if we make budget as a company. Unfortunately, sales is only a component of making that happen. Operations/production has a far bigger impact on our industry when it comes to budget. Salaried employees only got 12% last year and will likely only be 15% this year. As far as work related time, I put in 55-65 hours a week. Granted, a lot of that is spending time with clients at ball games and concerts, etc. and I really can't complain but it is still time away from my wife and kids. Heck, I was gone on a redfish and trout fishing trip from 11/8-11/20 where I had 4 groups from different General Contractors cycle in and out.

Point being, nobody in sales in my industry makes over $100k except the sales managers as we are not commissioned sales. When I was a Senior Rep, my best years were around $95k. Of course we get an F-150 with personal use allowed and that is a nice benefit but most of my guys make between $65-$90k salary less the yearly bonus. They all have a healthy expense account as well to take people on hunting and fishing trips, sporting events, concerts, etc..

Not a bad gig but nobody is getting rich selling commercial ready mix concrete. Comfortable living with great perks for sure but not in position to be buying beach properties, fishing boats, etc..

Their are many facets of the construction industry though where you can get wealthy in sales. Specialty items like glass/curtain walls for high rise buildings come to mind. Construction accessory salesmen at places like HD Supply/ White Cap make a lot after a few years. They are typically straight commission at that point and earn between 200k-800k. Bear in mind, getting those jobs is like finding a needle in a hay stack. You have to know the right person at exactly the right time. My good friend who started with HD about 14 months ago worked diligently for 4 years to get hired on and it was a good friend of his who had worked there 10 years who finally got him in. Everyone of the 8-10 reps they have in our major market have a similar story. And everyone of them has 5 friends in the construction industry who want to get hired on there. Point is, the jobs with that kind of earning potential are extremely limited and everybody wants them. If you can manage to get a sales job where you can eventually earn $100k+ with great perks.....don't complain and get caught up in what the very few make in relation to the norm.

I’ll take my chances. The IRS gets plenty from me on a quarterly basis they are quite happy I’m sure.

There are 4.5 million people in Lousiana. There are 160000 registered TD users. Even if we omit the fact that not all users are from Lousiana we arrive at 5% of 4.5 million which is ~230000 people.

It is not unreasonable to have 10000 affluent users when most of this board is college educated white people.

Various trusts, real estate etc...it’s not hiding and not paying, it’s using the rules they give you and investing for tax purposes. They get their money but I don’t just blindly give it to them. It makes the income generated go a lot longer.

True. I had a job on the table that would have been 150-200k but would have traveled 5 days a week and worked 50+ hours. Much more money than I make but didn't want that lifestyle. Have done close to that before and it was hell

This.

I'm compensated well for my the time I put in at work-which is almost 24/7/365.

I think the only time I didn't answer a work call or email on my "off hours" this year was when I was out of the country for 2 weeks.

I have no idea what you are trying to say. I do know however if you are hiding income from your CPA you are not paying your "fair share" of taxes.

You want into sales, half of the job is showing up and following up when people reach out

The other half is being a people person and building rapport/relationships

It's amazing how many people fail in sales that can't do one or both of those

If you give everything to your cpa than you are the not so bright one. I sign my tax returns, not him. Some of my financials are none of his business but I also don’t allow him to take responsibility. It’s a very common business tool my friend.

Regardless I’m not discussing nor am I hearing income levels at cocktail parties. But to play the game- with what I pay my plumber I’d speculate he’s in the close to 200k range so OP could consider a career in the flushing arts.

You can make that type of money in sales. Particularly med device and enterprise software, but really, an excellent salesman in just about any industry can make great money.

You won't make that working 40 hours per week though. Sales takes some natural skill, but it also takes a constant grind.
