With this list I'd have to say the best options are Ruston, Broussard, Youngsville, and Covington. IMHO

Does this mean that St George is now one of the 10 largest cities in LA?

SWB has a ~$450K contract out now to get certain street corners cleaned of litter! What else do you want from a mayor?
They better have inspectors out there inspecting within minutes of the contractor completing the effort at each intersection because within a day it will look like nothing was done.

Got to give Covington some love too. The mayor of Covington post here. Fat Man.

It was OP's nomenclature for towns with over 10k population. I simply repeated it and then used the 2022 Census data for population to display all the towns with over 10k and threw them into a smallest to largest sort and then numbered them.

Prairieville 34,215

It’s not a city, Sauce. No mayor or anything. Just like Metairie

quote:Gotcha, that makes sense for him to question then. It's a 'census municipality' which is what I used to draw my data points. The largest municipality in the parish with 25% of the parishes population being unincorporated seems odd, but I'm sure it has it's reasons.

It just goes to show you that you don't need a government at all to operate and maybe it is better to not have one at all.

The reason it is so well run? It isn't even a city at all. It is completely unincorporated and does not have any elected officials.
You have a parish government.

Ruston
Denham and Hammond, to an extent....Honestly, you could lump a lot of these small towns in, but Ruston is playing with the big boys

Too small… for instance, Chalmette is 21k people and I feel like we’re a small town

The OP opting for a lower number allows for more discussion.

My son used to date a girl from there. It was a nice place.

quote:I ate lunch in Ruston today and my receipt showed I paid 12.2% tax on that tab. The streets are in terrible condition all over town. You'll see multiple city vehicles when driving through town and they're just driving around and not doing a damn thing.
Easily Ruston
