That’s pretty dark for the northern Rockies, oddly enough
My comment included the help.

I recently moved to Raleigh, NC.
I enjoy it a lot. Nice people, good breweries, downtown has some good restaurants and easy to get in and out.
Check out the Raleigh Beer Trail … ~30 breweries within 30-45 minutes of Raleigh.

I mainly want to be able to be semi-close to be able to go to sports games for either NFL/NBA/MLB.
Knoxville isn't going to help you out here, 3 hour drive to Atlanta or Nashville for any major pro sports.

Not for long. Crime is skyrocketing there.
Go for Greenville, SC.
My youngster lives in Greenville, neat small city.
Wife and I are considering it to relocate to.

Greeneville is shite. You’ll find drug deals going down on their “riverfront” at all times of the day. Go there for work a few times a year.
Damn, that sucks, haven't seen any of that going on. Always have a great time there.

The most diversity you will see is in ski towns. Impossible to staff seasonally with just regular dirtbags and young folks from across the country, so they import the help. My former employer has several hundred if not over a thousand Jamaicans living in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Poor island baws get the shivers in the 50s.

Knoxville. Rivers, lakes, nearby Smokies, lots of activities, good inventory of normal housing, albeit not cheap.
Last I heard we were full.

Preferably, we would like to go to a somewhat large city. Not necessarily Atlanta big, but atleast over 100,000-200,000 people. We are both young adults who like to do things, so we don't want to live in rural areas. A low cost of living would be a major point as well for what we're looking for.
San Francisco

On a similar note, I was playing around on Zillow the other day and looked around Santa Cruz. My god the housing prices are absurd. They’re over there asking 2 mill for a normal looking 3 bed 2 bath

You’re paying for the land there, not the house. New construction isn’t really a thing in the desirable parts of CA.

Athens, Madison, Cullman and Hartselle, AL. All are bedroom communities of Huntsville. All are 15 - 45 minute commute to Redstone Arsenal and Marshall Spaceflight Center.

I’m imagining some dude with a brand new MechE degree getting a job at Redstone and deciding to live in Crane Hill or Good Hope and it makes me giggle.

Some will likely laugh at me but I've been really happy in Wichita. Plenty to do. Big but not too big. A lot of things going on to improve the city and make it more attractive. Plenty of job opportunities within aerospace. It doesnt have as much going on as other places but its got all of the big city amenities without feeling overwhelmingly big.

An up and coming sub 100k city will be the perfect urban life in the next few decades. They'll keep growing while older cities shrink.

Well, this:
