Whatever age you are when you first enter Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, North BR, or New Orleans wouldn't hurt.

I know some folks love that gun but its the only gun Ive ever purchased that did not function out of the box. Surprisingly Academy allowed me to return it. And the few times it did fire it was really uncomfortable.

Then I I’d say the age when you feel the need is probably best.
Overlap that with the age you’ve also been properly trained on how to do so safely and that would be my answer.

Take a safety course first. Carry something that fits you. Something comfortable that you can carry easily.
I'd recommend a Ruger LCP, Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 or a Sig 365 in one of its forms.
There are several options for holsters depending on how you want to carry.
An armed society is a polite society.

If you are looking for something really small, check out the S&W Bodyguard 2.0. Its a .380 so not much range or stopping power but you can carry it anywhere in your pocket and I find it really comfortable and accurate to shoot for gun that size.

The best time to start was yesterday.

What ghettos do yall live in that you needed pistols at 18

You probably will get better advice on the Outdoor Board.
FWIW, I rotate between a P365 (.380), a M&P 2.0, and a CZP10C (both 9mm’s).

One by the bed. Always carry on car trips. Early retirement age.

I have a M&P Shield 2.0 that I conceal, but I don’t do it often.
I don’t always feel that I have the need to.

I carry a Springfield XDM compact, 10mm.

I've carried a firearm in my truck since my first wife and I split because that bitch is crazy and was after my money and property. No doubt if she could have raised enough cash, and found someone willing to do it, she would have had me whacked. Current wife is an RN working for a hospice company. She has to make calls in sketchy parts of town at all hours. So she and I both got our CC permit a few years ago. Due to the nature of my work, I don't always have mine on my person, but it's never, ever very far away.

And you never will until you actually do need one.
So good luck with that.

Nothing. Just never really felt the need.
Just a suggestion......If you've never carried, it would do well for you to get some training. You are never too old to learn- and you don't know what you don't know.

WTH does age have to do with this?

How risky is your life to feel need to carry a pistol?
Why are you a target? Is threat probability high?
