My wife and I have been going back and forth on this for awhile now. My wife wants to get our 1 year old daughters ears pierced and I’m really against it. I want to let my daughter decide if she wants to or not one day, when she’s older. Just seems wrong to me to choose something like that for her at this age. Is this a hill worth dying on or no?

When they’re old enough to take care of them themselves.

We let our daughter decide. She did it when she was 5. Got infected and doesn’t have them anymore.

Personally, i believe it should be their choice. We also think it is a great thing to teach personal responsibility.

Your wife should have last word on all decisions about your daughter. Unless you want to bring her to OBGYN when she's ready to have sex.

Defintely when they are old enough to ask and take care of them. I have two daughters and we waited until they asked and then stalled a few weeks to make sure they were willing to take care of them.

I got mine when I was like 5-6. One ear got infected and swelled up and closed around the earring. Had to go to a doctor to have earring removed. Both earrings taken out and piercings closed up.

Got them pierced again when I was like 11-12 and could properly take care of them. I can remember being really excited about getting them pierced the second time.

I personally do not like to see babies with ears pierced. Trashy to me.

14-16 years old minimum.

Piercing babies' ears is so incredibly dumb. This word gets thrown around on the Ot a lot but it's trashy AF.

No. It's not like they can't be taken out in about 15 seconds.

Old enough to decide, that way taking her can be a special thing. 4 or 5 maybe.

Just get it over with now. Are you gonna wait until your son is of age to let him decide if he wants to chop the hood of his dick off? Of course not.

This is a terrible example.
