I've had some really odd things happen to me and my family since then. I think he's still trying to take care of us

I'm 43 and my dad is still alive. He's a recovering alcoholic and is on medicine for bi polar and depression. He'll be here in California for Thanksgiving.

I was 21 when my father had an aneurysm. He survived, but the brain damage was pretty severe. The biggest part of him was lost. I have complicated feelings about this.

I would rather out live my father. I couldn't imagine life without my parents. I know that day comes one day, and he scared us with cancer and then a heart attack years ago. But I couldn't deal.

Prayers and positive vibes for those with answers to this question though.

11 or 12, don't remember exactly.

I'll be 28 next year.

There isn't much I remember about him anymore. Didn't really deal with it well for a long time. In fact, didn't want to think about it. I was 17 or 18 before I actually knew what happened.

I was 10... when he walked out the door. We have slowly begin to rebuild our relationship but I do not have the relationship with my father that I wish that I did, and I am comparing mine to other friends' relationships with their fathers who go hunting and fishing and do all sorts of cool father-son activities.

I'm almost 40 and have a great family of my own, but that's one part of me that admittedly has still not healed 100%.
