Warning Depressing thread.

I edited but now I'll put it back up. I saw a guy on here earlier who was 22 when he lost his father. Felt badly for him. What age were you when you lost your mom/dad? How did you deal with it?

5 days after I turned 21

It'll be 3 years in 10 days. Was a strange night. Saw the news of Paul Walker's death. Then the Iron Bowl kick 6 happened shortly thereafter. Then that night, I got in a terrible car wreck because an Asian lady totally whiffed a stop sign, and had I not swerved, my friends in the passenger seat and backseat mightve been killed. Found out the next morning my dad died the night before. The car accident occurred around 8:55 that night, and my dad passed away around 8:50, 5 minutes before

No need to change the thread title, OP. Plenty of us guys have something common and sometimes take comfort in talking to others about it.

Maybe edit the title to something different like "For those whose father passed away, how old were you?"

For those of you lucky enough to grow up with a father in your lives I am both envious because of bond you have and heartbroken for the loss you will one day feel. That being said the hurt of not having that is what everyday helps me to be the father I am to my boys. My older brother was the only father figure I had,and I can never tell him how gratefulI am for him and the things he taught me. He sacrificed a lot of his late teenage life to be there for me and teach me the things your fathers may have taught you. So if you are lucky enough to have a father who has always been there for you let him know how much he is appreciated and loved. If your relationship with him is strained or broken please fix it regardless of fault, you will regret it if not regardless of fault..

I was 18,

My dad was sick for awhile. He had type 1 diabetes, when he was diagnosed with when he was a teenager. He got to the point where he needed dialysis, which he was on for years. He never missed a day of work. He had to go to dialysis 3 times a week. He would leave work then go do several hours of dialysis. When I was a freshman in high school he started getting to the point where he was in and out of the hospital. I graduated HS in May, started college in the Fall.. It was not a good semester because there was a lot of other stuff going on.. He passed away in January (1998).

He passed away early Sunday morning. I had gone out with friends that Saturday night and we didn't get in until around 3ish on Sunday morning. When I got in, he heard me and asked if it was me, a few minutes later I heard him caught and just stop. Like something was wrong.. My mom was checking on him asked me to call 911. He died of congestive heart failure.

I was 13...

honestly, the only thing that can help when you lose a loved one is the passage of time.
