The number of cars driving south on LA-1 this morning was absurd. The business down LA-1 should enjoy all of these extra commuters. What a perfect time for the new Walk-Ons to open.

We could have built the Audubon Bridge 3 times over for what it took to widen the Huey P Long bridge in New Orleans by 1 lane in each direction.

Since you seem concerned about waste, I thought I'd bring that up.

That project was also used to repair and preserve a bridge built in 1935. It was needed. It was a shitty narrow 4 lane bridge before.

West bank has a CC's, Walk-Ons, and an independent grocery. And it didn't flood.

It's almost like Brusly would be vastly more convenient for plant workers on the west bank than Ascension Parish.

your myopic perspective and ignorance of the subject is why you don't understand the reason its where it is. If you understood its origin, you'd see its doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Rather than worry about where all the other bridges are located, you'd do better to figure out how to get another route over the river closer to where you are. But typical of most people in this area, you'd rather bitch bout what was done years ago, than work to get a solution now or in the future.
Enjoy your drive.

Since my outlook is so myopic and my ignorance so glaring please explain to me why spending tens of millions of dollars (if that little) was spent on a bridge to facilitate literally dozens of people a day versus spending those same resources relieving the largest traffic congestion choke point in our state?

Thankfully my commute is not impacted by the negligence of this barge operator, but tens of thousands of peoples’ commute is. So please explain to me the necessity of the St. Francisville bridge

Middle class people live where they can send their kids to good public schools because they can't really afford private schools (and even if they could) would rather spend that money on a camp or a boat. Good public schools are where the middle class people live. It's kinda a chicken v. egg, but regardless East AP schools are waaaaaaaay better than West Bank schools and it's not even close.

at you acting like all that was done was adding a lane.

And talking about waste, would you like to compare the AADTs of each bridge and tell me which one is a waste again?

That's why we moved to Brusly. We like the school system here. It might surprise you.

well to be fare, the cost of a new bridge in NOLA would probably cost 2-4x the cost than in rural LA.

The problem is the connection. Do you connect it to i10 in grosse tete?

So how do you address it?

There is one very curvy road that leads from grosse tete to plaquemine. At the beginning, each side of the Bayou has two stop signs. Either is a traffic nightmare with any additional traffic.

So how do you address it?

So maybe you build roads through the five miles of wetlands to make it a straight shot. Getting the go ahead for destroyong so many acres of wetlands will also require the creation of ANOTHER bridge that crosses bayou plaquemine.

So how do you address it?

I swear you people act like we are still in Napoleonic times. Plant trees now so troops can walk in the shade in twenty years.

The solution? Make the current MRB bridge unidirectional. Build a twin next to it. Add two lanes to each side of i10/i12 from Lafayette to i55 and new orleans. Give the intracoastal two dedicated on and off ramps.

It’s purpose is for economic development. It’s a means to spur economic growth for that region. Additionally it facilitated the closing of the SFV ferry.

You know, if they moved to the West Bank, they could improve the schools over there like they did with AP schools.

And they wouldn't be living in a swamp/drainage basin.
