Where you coming from/going too? Would it be better to take the ferry or go around the other way?

Meanwhile, the bridge up by St Francisville is empty.

A toll bridge near Plaquemine would pay for itself within the next several months.

Yeah and no. I work on this side of the river (fortunately not far) and it’s on another level the last few days since the bridge shut down.

Today there are two wrecks on LA-1. One by the Walmart and one at the foot of the intercoastal. The traffic is worse because of the Sunshine bridge closure but today is a special kind of hell.

The ferry is very unreliable, plus you end up waiting for 30 min - 1 hr everytime.

A toll bridge at Plaquemine would pay for itself and you eliminate the fortune spent on the ferry

woohoo three posts in and the Audubon Bridge butt hurt ensues. Its like that bridge was never intended to be traffic relief for the metro area.

I saw 10 cars on it once.

2 of them were State Troopers running a speed trap though.

You really are a terrible poster. We know that bridge was not meant to relieve traffic around Baton Rouge. What we are saying is that it was a colossal waste of resources that could have been used to build a bridge that would actually be used

Just feed their hate fire. If they get angry enough, maybe a new bridge will get built.

Maybe the Sunshine Bridge being shut down will get the state off their arse to build a bridge south of BR.

Garret Graves and his ilk are too worried about starting a go fund me for LSU Athletics than worry about education or road infrastructure

We could have built the Audubon Bridge 3 times over for what it took to widen the Huey P Long bridge in New Orleans by 1 lane in each direction.

Since you seem concerned about waste, I thought I'd bring that up.

It’s like thats why we have a problem with the bridge.

Pointing out one example of government waste does not disallow me from disliking other forms of government waste.

Also how many commuters cross the Huey p Long every day? Would you say 3x more than the st francisville bridge? 5x? More?

It'll never be finished in time.
