Living in San Fran with tech bro income = badass.

Not really. Most "tech bros" are forced to live with roommates despite their "high incomes". I mean, if not having a family, a house, and sharing a bed with another tech bro is badass then sure?

Your comparison doesn't make sense. You are comparing housing in the middle of a huge city vs housing far outside a big city in Texas.

Compare apples to apples.

Here's one that's 45 min from San Fran in Vallejo. $575K for 2700 sq ft. zillow

Doesn't mean San Francisco doesn't have a housing affordability problem, but you aren't providing valuable info.

New Braunfels is 30 min from San Antonio and 45 min from Austin.

So not the city proper...

The new braunfels house placed in Dallas/Austin/Houston would be over $1mil easily.

The problem with living out in Vallejo is that commute is 45 mins without traffic. We’re talking 1:30 2 hrs with traffic. So even though you have a house. Half your week is spent st work and in the car commuting.

Uh...you do know that people that live closer to those cities I named in Texas have about the same commute with traffic, right?

New Braunfels to Austin would be easily 3 hour round trip in traffic.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but I also don’t know what it has to do with this thread.

There are lots of areas of the US where it’s common not to have AC for a good reason. San Fran is one of them.

More legitimate comparisons for New Braunfels would probably be Bakersfield or Fresno or something

also, if people didn't want to live in CA it wouldn't be expensive
