Bull fricking shite Their boy realized they were in deep shite so they "found" the key to try and prevent this from going further
quote:Then again this thing is comically blatant at this point. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were dumb enough to use a key fob to another vehicle. Ok but that can be checked. Probably even if they fried it if it’s factory original. And if they fried it how and why did it go damaged? What kind of coincidence this happened the same time it was immediately stolen? Where the frick was it and why did it take 2 days to find it? It is absurdity in its plausibility. It is demanding investigation right now currently. We are at that point. This thing hinges on people not pursuing it, not that the thugs even realize that. They are stupid and are making stupid moves now because of the headway you are making. Keep pressing
Couldn’t tell me where they found it

Hell, at this point you might need to get a lawyer to give the Westin a call as well.

Because it now has the ticket number on it. But they sure as hell couldn’t find that ticket in the 4 hours I stood at the stand on Sunday. Yes I’m probably a little too patient or passive with this but I’m unfamiliar of how to handle it.

Not to mention the key randomly appearing out of nowhere. Management is involved if they aren't even asking questions internally at the hotel or providing details.

How do you verify that that is the key to your truck?
Not sure I would trust anything they had to say at this point, unless I could actually verify it.

They sent me a picture and it’s definitely my key, had a mark on it that I recognized, and has the valet ticket ID that was given to me

I would not be surprised if the key they "found" is not your key. One of the valet employees is likely involved. Your key was given to the thieves and another key was left behind.
This is how cars are stolen from dealerships. A thief test drives a vehicle and swaps out the keyfob for a dummy one, and returns that night and steals the car.
If the key they gave you has an actual cut metal key within the fob, pull it out and compare it to the remaining key you have.

Then I would push for video of the stand to where they magically found it two days after they couldn’t.
Pulling a random one out of their arse to try and cover the situation could be corporate CYA. The actual one showing back up likely means someone in on it put it back.

Bunchie, can you take this on pro bono
Posted on 7/15/25 at 1:03 pm to Tiger328
If it's actually your key fob and you know that for certain, I'd refuse to accept it until they explain how it reappeared. Do not let them wash their hands of this. Get a lawyer involved if you have to, sooner rather than later, to get video of the valet stand before they claim it was overwritten or lost.

My advice would be to not be patient or passive and ask questions while demanding real answers other than "we don't know".
Force them to prove their incompetence or accessory in the crime. Those responses on record will help in the long run.

Where was the key found? Where did it come from? What employees were working when the key was found? What employees were working when the key was lost? Where could the key have been if missing for 2 days?
If any of the employees happened to be working when it was stolen and also when the key was found then the investigatotion should probably start there.

Ask them what is engraved on the back of the fob.
Of course, we all know they will come up with the wrong answer...

Make sure you let the police investigator know the updated info...and your suspicions

The likely had the keys. Common to steal keys from a vallet then steal the vehicle. I know you've seen it in a dozen movies.

This is such a terrible situation for you. Seriously, praying that you can get this figured out and get compensated. Please keep us updated.

Nobody from NOPD has reached out to me ever since the initial report, which they did over the phone
