With the S starting at $70k, somehow I don't think this hurts West Virginia sales.

The Texas auto dealers association is very powerful.

They ain't letting some Silicon Valley boy sell cars without one of their own getting a cut.

The argument I hear from a couple of people in the business is "that's the way it's always been done."

Just like you can't by booze directly from the distillery.

How are you going to learn about the wonders of dealer prep, undercoat protection, and just how are your local car dealers going to get paid, baw?

Haven't paid attention to this, so excuse my ignorance. But, is there another law that they are referring to when they ban this direct sales approach (as in the direct approach infringes upon some previously passed, legitimate law), or is this a law they put on the books to directly ban the direct sales approach? I just don't get what a lawmaker can do to justify passing this other than take the stance that they are siding with dealerships.

It's amazing the problems this is apparently causing for cars that probably 1-2% of the population are even going to entertain the idea of purchasing. Could you imagine if Ford or Chevy decided they were going to roll out this plan?

I am not sure what the law is but there is some. Car dealer needs a brick and mortar location as it is currently. You can't by a Ford and pick it up at the factory. Has to deliver to a dealer somewhere. I think South Carolina has a case that went to Fed supreme court, is on its way.

You do see many of them out here. You ever been to their showroom in Fashion Square? Very cool cars. I'm sure we will see more around when the cheaper 30K model finally is available.
