Did it have a negative(or positive) effect on your childhood? Does it still affect you in adulthood?

Have you ever addressed the situation with your parents?

fyi... i'm not talking about spanking or swatting, i'm talking about frequent occurrences with belts, switches, cords, etc. to an uncontrolled degree

I got spanked as a kid. Not to the point where I was physically harmed. Maybe that explains the purple hair and face tat.

I don’t equate being beat with getting an arse whipping or spanking or whatever you call it.

FWIW, I was spanked (arse whipping, whooping, etc) as a child.

I hold no ill will towards my parents. I deserved every single one and I know that they love me.

ETA: didn’t read the FYI part. I got whipped with a belt once or twice. My grandmother would make me go find a switch sometimes. But I didn’t like get the shite beat out of me by my elders, no.

Spanked? Yes. Definitely earned the ones I received.

Belt, switch and hand. Dad is dead so there's no discussing it.

Yeah, I feared him coming home from work every day. There were no discussions about misbehavior. He went straight to the punishment. Our relationship improved when I was an adult but it was never great.

I was punished with a belt, but no, my parents weren't child abusers.

of course it did

how?

To clarify, we're talking about legit beatings, not just getting spanked, right?

No, I had plenty of energy as a kid. But now that I have kids, I'm constantly beat.

I was spanked with a belt every once in a while. I wouldn't consider it a beating. Looking back on it, those spankings kept me in check.

Will : He used to just put a belt, a stick, and a wrench on the table. Just say, "Choose."

Sean : Well I gotta go with the belt there.

Will : I used to go with the wrench.

Sean : Why the wrench?

Will : Cause frick him, that's why.

Got spanked a lot with a belt. Dad would get drunk and play box with me but often got a little rougher than he should. Didn’t mean to and never really realized it. I pushed my mom once when she was yelling at me and got a good old fashioned arse kicking.

Positive effect as it taught me not to be a pussy.

belt and later paddle at home, always deserved thinking back. mom would face slap a little bit if we cussed or talked back too bad.

we still got paddled in school then so the physical stuff was nothing extraordinary.

Abused, no.

Beaten, no.

But I got the working end of an alligator dress belt several times. Hurt, but never injured. And I can only remember one time when I truly thought I didn't deserve it.

Dad lost his temper and slapped me once out of frustration.

Mom would smack and pinch our arms and legs when we were being assholes.

Nothing major.

8th Grade teacher called an assistant coach into our classroom to beat the boys that refused to do group punishwork. He took full swings on our asses with a size 13 Chuck Taylor low-top. The teacher was a count for doing that to us. The assistant coach was a joke that students looked down on.

Lesson learned was that I'd never let a teacher beat my kid. There are too many idiots teaching and too many small dicked sadists coaching.

Beat? No. Had my arse and legs whipped with a hickory switch? Hell yes, regularly.

How has it affected me? Well it taught me there are serious consequences for my actions. It taught me to be kind and respectful to others. It taught me to not lie or steal.
