Is underage drinking allowed on the team? What % of the team is underage - 95%? And how many of those do you think have broken that restriction many, many times while in school?

I'm sure it's not allowed... but alcohol exits your system in a few hours. Weed can get tested for longer.

That's the issue.

When players have gotten busted for DWI, it absolutely is an issue.

Because it's a great way for Louisiana Sheriffs to get money, hence why it took so long to decriminalise it, much less legalise it.

You see, the more prisoners in a Sheriff's prison, the more money they receive from the state and feds. Arresting non-violent people for weed is more preferable to deal with than more violent offenders, like rapists and murderers. And you can arrest more people for that crime on a regular basis.

So the Sheriff's use their political clout to prevent marijuana and other substances from being legalised so they can keep that cash cow.

And since it's illegal in Louisiana, it is not allowed in State schools. It is now de-criminalised, but the statutes for the schools still have to be amended to reflect that. If they even are amended. Alcohol is a legal substance, but is strictly banned on state school campuses no matter what your age is. Except on Gameday, because of a loophole in the state law that changes LSU's designation to a State Park. (Got to love this state sometimes. )

OP isn't saying we should give him a pass for breaking the rules

What he's asking is why don't we change the rules?

The average IQ of a state legislator has to be around 90 nationwide, and closer to 85 in Louisiana.

Dumb.

Driving while intoxicated is an entirely different level of this. What you're saying is that weed would be fine if they just didn't fail tests for it.

How fricked up is that mindset? This plant we all know and agree is less harmful than booze and should be legal is still the reason kids get kicked off the team (and choose to play for other teams instead)

Why is it acceptable in the pro-pot community to do a ‘wake and bake’ but people who have a few shots of liquor first thing in the morning are labeled “alcoholics” with a “problem”?

Why are pro-pot legalization people so stubborn and old fashioned?

Think of the recruits LSU would get if we fully legalized and had a cannabis lounge at the football facilities. How many Nattys would we have? But nooooooo, y’all have to be some redder madness types

Yes, DWI is actually a bad crime.

This is stupid. It's equating useless stoners will all pro-legalization people.

Useless stoners are like raging alcoholics who can't keep a good job. They are the same. And not at all indicative of the entire population that enjoys those things.

Louisiana is a backwards dipshit state run by barely functioning retards.

The sheer amount of money we’ve lost on what should have been slam dunk industry and economy because of crony politics and abject ignorance is too depressing to really think about. Unfortunately I spent years studying it.

The real legalization bill failed in order to protect the legal cartel which has formed under the state’s medical marijuana system.

LSU and Southern control a duopoly over the growing and processing of the weed, and a select number of licensed pharmacies have the geographic monopolies over the sales and distribution.

The Real legalization bill would have broken that control by allowing all kinds of people and businesses to grow, manufacture, and sell marijuana based products.

You'll be there soon enough.

I'm 41. If you don't think pot should be legal, honestly, frick you. You've had enough time and information at your disposal to understand how stupid that opinion is and still have it.

If you have a different opinion, carry on.

This is because THC is fat soluble unlike alcohol and what they're testing for is the metabolites that are also fat soluble. THC itself is out of your body for a few hours. You don't stay high for days, dude.

This is such a dumb argument to keep weed illegal.

I'll just say this: When was the last time you heard about someone taking a few bong rips then beating the hell out of their wife?

More states allow you to marry your first cousin than
states that allow you to purchase recreational cannabis.

No, what I am saying is that it's easier to test for weed than it is to test for booze. However, if you get a DWI, that's evidence of drinking.

Sit at your buddy's house and drink to 2 am, go home, take a breathalyzer test at 3 pm and be fine.

Sit at your buddy's house and smoke weed to 2 am, go home, take a drug test at 3 pm and you fail.

Everyone from teens to House moms are driving around legally wacked out on Xanex and Ambien and adderhol.

But god forbid someone who smoked pot yesterday take drive today.

Louisiana is historically the last or damn close to the last state to do anything “progressive”.

It makes perfect sense.

Both scenarios you're sober at that point given you stopped at 2 AM.

Are you insinuating that the police are going to do a UA on someone for a traffic stop? Really?

Whatever benefits local Sheriffs are getting could be made up by putting litterbugs in jail and/or executing them.

This.

It's funny how the loudest for cannabis prohibition never seem to think about this. All they know is "HURR ITS BAD" while all the legal shite that is worse gets a pass.
