You’re going to be in the loser underdressed group. Don’t expect to get laid.

Then I suggest you go rent a damn tux so you don’t look like a fool

I would take it a step further and say go buy a tux today and have them alter it ASAP. For about $600, you can buy something that will be passable for practically any function. Hell, the average idiot will probably think it’s more expensive simply because it fits you better. It will be the rare person in the room who will notice the half assed detailing and mediocre fabric, and the even rarer a-hole who cares enough to scoff.

Wear a tie the same color as your suit, or black tie.

I agree. I own two tux’s.. and the reason for that is an event every year where we wear a tux more than one day and I cant take a chance of something happening to it and only having one.

People that show up underdressed at events are becoming far more common lately. Wearing their best church fishing clothes in some cases.
It's really easy to ditch a coat and tie if you feel overdressed. Not so easy to do the opposite. Err on the side of dressing too nicely. It will serve you better in the long run.

And then they will pretend as though their being under-dressed is a virtue and point of pride because they just aren't as vain as everyone else, when the reality is that they simply don't know what they are doing and are too insecure to learn.

I guarantee that my tailored worsted wool pants are more "comfortable" than your blue jeans, a-hole.

I didn’t bring a tuxedo because I don’t have one and I’m not going to rent one for $200 for a New Year’s Eve party.

You can buy a tux for $170 with alterations. Don't try to use cost as an exuse.

You shouldn't attend an exclusive NYE party if the cost of a tux is an issue. Get a tux.

If it does not mention black tie on the invitation, I guarantee less than half the males will not have on a tux.

I wear a dark navy suit to evening functions all the time. If you can tie a bow tie, that will Church it up even more.

Is there alcohol at this party? No one will care except you. Go for it my man.
