N! I was in denial for so long... finally looked in the mirror and said frick you...you're fat and unhealthy and you need to change shite... so far down 40 lbs and feeling better than I have in years. It's not fat shaming..it's honesty.

What’s your routine? I’ve been trying to get in shape the last couple months but i’m not making much progress.

Fat people take up too much space on airplanes

and in TS... I sat close to a couple that was so damn fat that the chair backs they bought completed intruded into the row above to where no one sitting behind them could sit. They were politely asked so adjust or take the seat backs off and scoot up but said no because they needed them for support. Not able to sit the other people went and got a stadium official who told them they had to remove the seat backs... they did and struggled like hell to hold themselves up on their own in the seats but eventually left after about 10 minutes. Everyone around whispered about how awful and embarrassing that must have been for them.... frick THAT... some people were supposed to miss out on the ticket they paid for bc these two couldn't say no to a buffet.... I was glad they were embarrassed and sincerely hope it lead to some positive changes...but doubt it.

For me the biggest game changer has been my app... called lose it. It's weight loss in the simplest form... you get a calorie budget and are not to go over it. When you eat you put it in and it adds calories, when you exercise you enter it and it subtracts. Along with the obvious benefit of telling you what to do and how much you can eat in a day, it's increased my awareness. Having to track everything I eat has lead to me not imdlessly snacking.... that really adds calories.

Also..stay realistic w the workouts... I like riding my bike so that's what I do... I know I'm never gonna stick to going to a gym or running...but I know I can ride my bike daily and still enjoy/not dread it.

I STRONGLY recommend the putta the fork down thread on the food and drink board... they know their stuff and it's a way everyone can keep themselves honest. I've fallen off posting there...but its a good place.

Truth is, short of cooking and eating at home, your choices in eating out all the time suck balls if you’re actually trying to watch fat, sugar, and salt intake.

Try eating out at a restaurant other than McDonald's?

Ignorant statement, and further proves the point. McDonalds sucks balls. Obvious fact. I’m referring to portions and foods served in pretty much every restaurant you frequent and the salt and sugar as well. It’s not just a McDonalds issue, or fast food issue either, but it is one they helped contributing to.

Portion control is the biggest issue, but so are arse loads of carbs, heavily salted and sugary foods, high fat, and few vegetables. Hell, even when they serve salads it’s smothered in fat. These aren’t McDonald’s issues, but people’s issues they were raised on, and it’s become the American diet.

Go look at nutrition info for any number of the sit-down restaurant chains. Even the supposed "lighter fair" is generally not very healthy and probably a larger portion than necessary.

I've been fat shamed because I was fit and did let myself go recently by someone who I've known that's always been obese

Fat positivity/Fat acceptance is bad. Plenty of studies have dispelled the "fat but fit" myth. However, plenty of studies have also shown that fat shaming is not effective at causing overweight/obese people to lose weight. So I want to be clear that while I do not support the crazy fat acceptance movement, fat shaming really only makes us feel better about being thin and has little to no effect on obesity and overweight rates.

Edit: Sources for fat but fit as a myth and fat shaming being ineffective

I walk 35-50 miles a week. Eating correctly is WAY more important. Walking just maintains where you are basically. As far as weight loss goes it is mediocre at best. It's all the other benefits-cardio, psychological, meditative, nature, sun etc.

Im fat as frick lol and i agree if people (especially family) gave me a hard time about it, it would certainly serve as extra motivation. I went from roughnecking to an office job...sitting on your arse all day certainly hasnt helped lol.

Every time I visit home I’m astounded at how fricking fat southern white people have gotten. Wasn’t always like this, kids.

I don't agree with fat shamming. But we should not be promoting or encouraging being over weight in any shape or form.

Man, I would have thought Italy would have been much higher. With all the pasta and heavy sauces, and the fat Italian women cooking in the kitchens. Good for them though.
