Can`t help but notice, it`s an able body person, no mirror tag or license plate tag and 95% of the time it`s a black person.
Never seen anyone getting a ticket for it?

I think they have the right to use those spots in the name of equity
Also cops cant write tickets in parking lots
The store could tow you is worst that could happen

maybe we should have fewer handicap parking spaces? I don't wish them any harm, but it really makes no sense to dedicate so many spaces that (seem) to go unused so frequently.
Not making an excuse for the violators. But maybe we should reassess how many folks you have needing their own dedicated space.

The end of the month will be 5 years since the stroke
and I still have never applied for or used or parked in the handicap spot

My favorite are the ones that park a handicap space and then walk into the gym to jog on the treadmill.

They do seem to be reserved for dodge chargers, crown vics and Escalades

I love the 25-50 curbside pickup spots. Few are ever filled, and I always have a decent spot. I don't take the first one, closest to the store, but all the rest are up for grabs.

I just talked to someone who got a ticket in Port Allen at a store parking lot about 25 years ago.
Maybe they changed the law if what you say is correct.

There's a couple of Frequent Flyers that park in front of Harvest in Dutchtown. Usually in either a black Mercedes crossover or an older Mercedes convertible.
I fantasize about keying them but the more thoughtful F1y person took the high road.

I've always thought a local news crew filming people getting out of cars in HC spots would be interesting to watch. Stick a microphone in their face and ask why they think they should get to park there. The TV camera should prevent the otherwise obvious violence.

We need technology to help right-size the number of handicapped spots at a given time. Those spots are so often empty.

Then they should get tags.

If I am driving my elderly grandmother to places where I know she won't be a while and will be able to tend to herself inside, I'll unapologetically park in a handicap spot and stay in the truck. Not sorry.

It depends on the state, but most states allow cops to write tickets for this.
For Louisiana, Louisiana Revised Statutes 32:145 makes it illegal to park in a designated accessible parking space without a valid disability placard or license plate. This applies to both public and private lots as long as the space is properly marked with signage meeting Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

#metoo, but I will occasionally pull into one before backing the truck into the spot across from it.

One of the grocery stores near me has a spot dedicated to Purple Heart recipients. I have caught the same fat girl , 25ish Y/o(you can guess the rest) parked in that spot twice and there was no Purple Heart tag. So I waited.
She comes out and I said something to her about parking there and it turned into a scene both times.
Both times, I told her that some of these Vets had trouble walking and sometimes were missing legs.
The second time I mentioned that some might be her relative, or even Grandfather.
I haven't seen her there again.
