The Spillway and Belle River will have plenty of crawfish. These a-hole really think they're slick with their bullshite EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Texas crawfish production will continue to decline due to water restriction and population increasing between Houston and Winnie where the land is conducive for crawfish

The spillway will have water issues unless we get a lot of winter rains or snow melt in the spring

Here is this years reasoning for higher prices.
It’s a boy who cried wolf situation. This year’s reason actually makes sense, but people roll their eyes and say “here we go again.”

Yeah if there ever was a year it would be this year with the drought

aren't they though? People bitch about the prices but keep paying the absurd prices. So until demand takes a big decline, I wouldn't expect them to lower prices just to be nice.

The last three years have been pretty "normal" for crawfish prices. It def. seemed like they would have shot up a lot higher last year, but didn't.
Are you all dreaming that we will one day go back to .75/pound crawfish again one day?

guess i'll be boiling potatoes corn and sliced hot dogs.
Posted on 11/29/23 at 1:26 pm to notiger1997
Literally everything food item has gone up year after year but people really think that crawfish will be a lower price every year makes no sense
Posted on 11/29/23 at 1:31 pm to ragincajun03
We are going to end up not having enough drinking water because these farmers are all trying to maximize their profits every year.
Posted on 11/29/23 at 1:40 pm to Earnest_P
Start putting restrictions on water for rice and crawfish farms will really have everyone bitching when no one can make their etouffees
Posted on 11/29/23 at 1:41 pm to ragincajun03
And people still bitch about Chinese crawfish being used

If that’s the case then that dude has the ability to pump all the water he wants.

He can’t pump because of saltwater in the flood canals he uses when you get south of interstate a lot of farms are flooded through flood canals and when the water levels get low like they are saltwater backflows into the fresh water canals and too much saltwater will ruin land and kill crops
Posted on 11/29/23 at 1:52 pm to ragincajun03
Can they not flood their fields with irrigation? Serious question.
Posted on 11/29/23 at 1:54 pm to The Mick
Not all farms have deep wells a lot farms south of interstate have big flood canals that branch of of bayous and rivers and that’s how they irrigate their farms
Posted on 11/29/23 at 2:03 pm to ragincajun03
No hurricanes though, so that was nice
Posted on 11/29/23 at 2:12 pm to ragincajun03
Finally the one year they say not enough rain and I believe them.
