At the filter thing is a part that needs replacing every so often.

The biggest one in the last 15 years has been cable boxes. Most systems like Comcast require them since all channels are digital and encrypted. So if you have 5 or 6 TV’s that is north of 60-80 dollars in equipment if you have a DVR.
One system I know of, Allen Cable in Morgan City has most of the lineup unencrypted so you don’t need a box. Of course if you want the premium tier like HBO you will need a box.

Signing kids up for summer camp this year. Instead of paying school directly, now use a website that charges a $28 service fee and CC fee. Oh and somehow snuck in a yearly subscription to this website that I can’t imagine using ever again — 30 days free, then $100 a year. Absolute insanity. They won’t be satisfied until they squeeze every penny we make.
