this level of connectivity or whatever you want to call it is still pretty new, at least for most employees. will be kind of interesting to see how it plays out long term especially as home and workplaces become more intertwined. right or wrong, i wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more op-eds and social media posts speaking out against it in the near future.

eta: on one hand, i can see the argument for it. you get to work from home x amount of days per week, you probably do 20 hours of actual work per week at the most, and for the most part your job is emails. on the other, frick feeling like you have to check your phone constantly for a few hours after getting home every night.

Who is doing this? I work from home and work harder and accomplish more than any prior job. There are ways to ensure productivity short of time sheets and check ins. Plenty of people working from home are doing a solid 40 or more. 20 is laughable.

What's crazy about wayfair is they're really just a glorified version of Amazon but with furniture. They dropship other products and don't sell their own. They're probably seeing the massive rise in supply chain costs and they want to take it out on the workforce.

I've stopped using them when I found out they dropship a ton and the prices were getting competitive elsewhere.

People meet their friends, spouses, future business partners, etc at work. Pretending as if it wasn’t a giant source of community for people pre Covid is inaccurate.

It’s easy for an established 45 year old to be pro wfh. Lots of people behind that group are getting a raw deal though.

WFH and homeschool your kids. I’m sure everything will work out fine

Yep. You aren’t getting the mentorship and networking opportunities (whether those are social, in house, or for something down the road) working from a second bedroom.

This is nonsense.

You want to move up based on merit, you got to outwork and outperform your competition.

Leaving at 3:30 everyday and taking 6 weeks of vacations is probably why your career is stalling.

People want everything handed to them nowadays. You're going to have to put in the work.

Work/Life Balance is a trap. It's something you work hard to obtain at certain levels in your career.

If you're worried about work/life balance in the first 5-7 years or your career, just dig out a nice hole and get some straw because you're building a nest to sit in forever.

Millenial here and I've never once used DoorDash. I think your bias against Milleneals due to an inner fear of growing old has supplanted this thought, but I can assure you most aren't bad with their money.

The real problem is Boomers and what they've done to the housing market. A house is the biggest expense, exponenetially moreso than DoorDash. The real POS here are the Boomers and what they did to the housing market as it is the single most important financial aspect of 99% of people's lives.

At the end of the day who cares if Gen X says "lit, fire, cap, bussin" or whatever. Does it suck? Yea but not gonna really care about it. Of all active generations, Boomers take the cap in biggest POS to what they did to housing. I think if you painted this picture as I described above (realistically), 99% of people would agree outside Boomers.

I’m in my early 30s and wfh does not appeal to me. A nice hybrid is cool for flexibility but ultimately I would definitely choose in office full time vs wfh full time.


Blows my mind when people fresh out of school want to work remote full time in their first real job.

As soon as associates my age become eligible for wfh they end up abusing it (typically). Doesn’t make sense or appeal to me.

Delusional maybe, how did you come up with this crap. The problem with housing is overregulation preventing the supply from increasing. Ask a builder, a banker or anyone involved in real estate. We also have these multinationals buying up housing to rent, But when the supply goes up, prices always fall.
