They do de-dup, but it's on the back end. If John Smith gets tested 5 times and receives 5 positive tests, each of those tests are counted as a new case. Once LDH de-dups, 4 of those tests will be removed from the "total cases" figure, but by that time nobody cares. New cases is the figure everyone is watching and the figure that gets reported. That figure undoubtedly is inflated do to multiple positive tests from the same individuals.

The data on the LDH site is updated to reflect those multiples being deleted. Besides the couple of large corrections it usually seems like less than 10% each day.

I agree correct data would be preferred, however the numbers aren't much different.
Probably a result of getting the info out instead of their being a 5 day delay and having people bitch about that.
If you trend the total number it will still look the same.
