Crazy idea but maybe don’t live where there isn’t fresh water or where they’re unwilling to do what they need to to create more (desalination plants).

LV is extremely good with their water usage and doesn't take more water than they put back into Mead.

Bruh. There is no way to say “watering 40 golf courses worth of grass in the desert” can be classified as “extremely good with their water”

For what it’s worth, I have no problem with the amount of water use in LV. I just find it absolutely hilarious that someone is trying to say watering 40 golf courses worth of grass in the frickin desert is an “extremely good” use of that water

The good news is that most all of California, pretty much all of Arizona, and western New Mexico are out of the drought. If they can get a decent monsoon season this year things will start looking a whole lot better.

I was reading about this today and the nutjobs are already gearing up to waste this rather than buy more time to solve the problem.

The desert was never meant to support umpteen millions of people with lawns. Cry me a river, but I am not going to be upset for idiots who made their beds and want to tell everyone else how to live their lives.

Yeah the problem will take care of itself. Not a lot to talk about really. If they get to a point where they can't consistently drink water or take baths they'll figure it out I bet.

Its almost as if they settled the American West during the most wet century in recent geologic record and have made little to no plans for how to deal with it when it returns to normal.

At what point do certain states start keeping some of the Colorado river (or other sources) before they get to the cities/states further down the line?

Nah, our taxpayer dollars will be used to make sure California gets all the water it wants, no matter the cost, all the while protecting the rich's views and quality of life.

This started to crop up last year when it was getting dire and states were starting to get hostile. Was going to make for some interesting drama.

Instead of penalizing people for water usage, why not incentivis people to use less water. Like free water if you keep it under a certain amount of gallons every month.

People pointing fingers at California should realize Louisiana has no water policy at all. Like zero. So we have water intensive industries draining aquifers that are used for drinking water. It rains a lot here and we have a lot of water, but it's not all in the right place and it's not all suitable for drinking. The same issues the Southwest is facing can happen here and are already happening.

Isn't a good chunk of Louisiana under water?

Imagine that. Building massive metropolises in an area that is not capable of sustaining large settlements was/remains a really dumb idea.

The two issues are also not related at all. I can point the finger at CA for causing their own problems all I want.

Nothing that has ever happened or ever will happen in Louisiana impacts California’s water resource management.
