Water situation at Lake Powell and Lake Mead is crazy

These two are necessary for human life in most of Western United States and they've been dropping rapidly for years, now sitting at critical levels.
This year there is an absurd amount of snow that will melt and run into Lake Powell + Lake Mead tand add another year or two to their life span, but there is markedly more going out than in every year. Without extremely dramatic changes, like 50% reduction water usage, these will be empty within a decade and will bone millions.
In spite of all of this, population continues to grow and water usage rises. People are wild.

Mega large population areas are the bane of human existence. Always have been throughout history too.

That's why they've decided to just throw together a little pipeline from the Mississippi River to the west coast. They say they can have it done by 2025.

My boy patches got it under control.

There were actually people proposing this (no one important) . Fast track to Civil War 2.

Las Vegas does not contribute to the water issues either, they are very good with their water. It is California and L.A. that are causing the most issues (imagine that). California has been stealing water for over a century.

I like how California has water restrictions but all you have to do is pay a fine, which the rich happily do, and that money likely goes back into some absolute bullshite local program and does nothing to solve the water issue.

California should just build desalination plants and power them with wind mills and solar panels.

Oh, I know. It would never fly. Even if they tried we are still talking about a country that takes a year and half to add a turn lane and widen a two mile stretch of road.

A massive sprawling ostentatious city in the middle of the fricking desert with no access to water otherwise certainly isn't helping.

They should move to a place with water.

Go do some research on the matter. LV is extremely good with their water usage and doesn't take more water than they put back into Mead.

Can't, they would endanger the river smelt.

They axed the last one proposed and they’ll end up squandering all the surplus water they’ve received the last few months. Idiots
