That right there folks is a great example of why LA is falling further behind every state in the nation, the MS river now belongs to LA and we goin get paid.

Yes, the river that’s in Louisiana belongs to Louisiana. Is that a difficult concept to grasp? If you pump oil from Louisiana land to Arizona, wouldn’t you expect Arizona to pay for the oil?

I've never seen a more stupid thread. Everybody along the Mississippi River says no, it's our water and we're not going to share. The government could declare imminent domain and take it. And then if they do it will cost a gazillion dollars to build it. It ain't gonna happen though in concept, I'd support it.

By the way, Elon Musk could find a way to tunnel underneath all that farm and forest land.

It'd cost a half trillion dollars man. They'd have to build power plants along the way to run the pumps.

It would be the new Panama Canal though.

You have to be trolling. You can’t be that dumb. Within the last decade, at least once, the river levels dropped so low that the Corps had to put in emergency underwater dams to keep the saltwater intrusion from contaminating New Orleans’ drinking water.

So the law that gets passed includes the provision that no diversion can decrease the flow past NOLA below x. Wow, that was remarkably easy. I hope you didn’t struggle too long with THAT one!

And to the ijit who compared the Mississippi to the Colorado, well, those are radically different rivers. And the Colorado suffered its deprivations before people understood the consequences. Using that as an example is like using the Oklahoma Dustbowl as a reason to forbid farming in North Louisiana.

I'm just a dumbass but doesn't it rain every damn day in Seattle ? I'm sure that would be easier to send to Cali than from the damn Miss River. Let the left coast take care of itself.

Yes Louisiana has wayyyy more water than we need. Hopefully some dry states will pay us a lot of money more it. Until then, it’s ours.
