First it looked like the newest Call of Duty. Then it looked like Russian propaganda

They don’t really cut through the ice. The bow rides on top of the ice and the weight of the ship breaks it.

Russians are pretty good at CGI. They seem to love that forbidding colder than frozen stuff. Pretty good for a third world country with a first world military.

You never hear about second world countries. I think Russia would be a good one to start it off.

Says it’s the only nuclear icebreaker in the world. Are there other nuclear powered vehicles?

Yes, I should have said that. Kudos for catching that at this time of night. They are a technologically advanced country.

And I think the majority of Russians are pretty happy and satisfied to live in that 2nd world country.

Being right often brings the downvotes on tOT.

The ice in the video wasn't thick enough to see any change in the boat's trim but thicker ice would have caused the bow to rise and drop when enough of the bow's weight was over the ice. They do have a sharp edge under the bow which some might consider cutting the ice but it is just about getting enough pressure in a small enough area to crack it.

I'm looking at a wikipedia page now and there are several examples of nuclear powered ice breaking ships

Yeah ship youtubes are pretty sweet. Ships ramming into piers, ships at sea in horrific weather and waves, world's largest tanker ships, all that stuff. This is a nice one too.

Aircraft carriers and submarines are nuclear powered. Not sure about other American navy ships.

There are very few privately operated nuclear vessels in the world. The vast majority of them are naval
