Never used Amazon. Single guy. I really don't buy much though. I buy groceries at Wal Mart and pick up any other household items while there

That's incredible.

I have noticed that Amazon has started a requirement for Prime shipping. You have to meet a minimum $ value on small bulk items at a low cost.

I guess they were losing their arse on 2 day shipping for $2 - $3 items.

My only fear is that it will take over small businesses. I would love to buy dive gear from a local shop, but I saved hundreds by ordering online.

The only time I've ever felt misled by reviews is on products where 90% of the reviews are "I received this product in exchange for a fair review" or whatever.

In my personal experience with Amazon, which might be categorized as "a frick ton," the reviews of products not in that category are very reliable.

Top seller in bed sheets with a staggering 4,500+ reviews? These shite-arse fake paper-thin $29 egyptian cotton sheets.

Top selling router with a mind-boggling 6,162 reviews? The *LEGENDARY* shittiest router ever ladies and gentlemen:

Reddit outed this years ago but its still a category-killer.

Yep, the more reviews the BETTER the product right?

Isn't CVS, even with the card, going to exceed the price of most grocery stores?

Not in my experience

I have coupons stored onto my cards pretty much 24/7 due to how much I go. Combine those coupons with the sale prices, and you're getting off cheap.

When I went in yesterday, 18-pack of Cottonelle was $6.99. The 12-roll is $7.49 at WalMart right now. So 6 more rolls for $.50 cheaper. Then I used my CVS card which had a $3 off coupon on it, so I got it for $4.

The other day, I had a $5 off coupon (these print on your receipt) in my wallet. I stopped in to buy a $9 nail polish. When I went to pay, they said I had $4 off coupon stored onto my card.. so I got the $9 nail polish for completely free. Didn't have to pay a cent.

If you go often like I do and just buy things you know you'll need when they're on sale, CVS is cheaper than anywhere.

I take a daily probiotic that is $22/pack. They go on BOGO sale every so often, so I get 2 packs for that price and usually have $$$ off stored on my card as well.

If an electronic or some sort of a "major" purchase, I've already done my homework from a variety of websites and/or in person at a store. But I haven't been let astray by any reviews yet from Amazon. How any adult couldn't justify the price of Prime is beyond me. Hell, on Christmas alone I come out ahead on the cost of the Prime membership.

Agree. For tech/electronics, you can almost always find very thorough reviews from major websites like The Verge, Engadget, etc., and usually some good stuff from individual blogs and the like.

If you are buying a computer, post on this site, and haven't consulted ILikeLSUToo, then you're doing it wrong anyway.

Plus, unless you're naive, you can spot a fake review from a mile away. They're as obvious as a Craigslist scam.

so you think those 2 products i linked above are legit because they have OVERWHELMING positive reviews in the thousands?

On the other hand, these are the top seller when you search bed sheets.

.. so I bought them a month ago and they are hands down the softest sheets that have ever touched my body.

I'd have never found them if there was no Amazon.

are you saying once the reviews get into the 5,000+ range this isn't a snowball drawing thousands of buyers into making it an even bigger category-killer?

What?

I don't know about the bedsheets, we typically don't buy stuff like that at Amazon.

The router looks cheap as shite and when I see 6000 reviews and only 4.0 stars, no way I'm buying it.

I don't get scammed on Amazon, Craigslist or Ebay. If you're not a total idiot and can look at a review and go "this is fake as shite" you'll manage well on any such website. When I see a top Ebay seller that has his last 100 reviews on the same day in broken english, I'm not like "oh shite, he must be legit."

i almost jumped on it at $99 but did not realize its potential. Got it 2 years ago for $149 and am hooked on Alexa. Just wish they'd hurry up and update the software to where you can change its name.

And the smart outlets and smart lights are going to be purchased soon by me as well.

Diapers Bro. fricking diapers.

I've purchased diapers in a store once. ONCE. And that was a few days after my second son was born before we set it up to send the smaller ones.

Two kids, one in-store purchase of diapers. And they are cheaper.

I am on my account right now letting them know that the charger for the IPad I bought last month stopped working. It's onyl the 4th time I've had to contact them for a product issue, but I bet it'll be the 4th time they handle it with the quickness and with no additional effort on my part.
