About one in five adult Americans has an Amazon Prime membership, a report released Monday found.

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners estimated that there were 54 million Prime members in the United States at the end of 2015.

That’s 21% of the U.S. adult population of 246 million.

That means close to half of U.S. household, 46%, have a Prime membership. That's "probably a better way to think about it, since most couples and families use a single membership," said Michael Levin, a partner and co-founder of CIRP, a Chicago-based research and analysis firm.

CIRP estimates that about 47% of Amazon’s customers in the United States are Prime members. The number represents a 35% increase in Prime membership in 2014.

I have no idea why anyone would not have Prime

the subscribe & save function is worth it alone

I have almost all of my monthly basic supplies delivered to my door automatically

TP
paper towels
deodorant
shampoo
toothpaste
detergent
etc

and I get 25% off?

it keeps me from ever having to step foot in places like Target or Walmart and now I can just shop for groceries at local markets

god I love Amazon

As I was reading this thread I just got a text alert saying my Amazon order is arriving today.

How can you not like Amazon Prime? I think we get at least one package from Amazon a week.

Probably mostly older people without it.

My coworker doesn't even know what it is. She has asked me several times to explain it to her when it is brought up, but she doesn't seem to have any interest in having it herself.

My parents adore it (as I knew they would), but it took me giving it to them for Christmas for them to get it.

I simply don't use amazon very often, or have much use for it.

Granted, I realize full well this is like the seinfeld episode where he's trying to get elaine to switch to the orident toothbrush. He tells her "I've had your toothbrush, I can compare. This one isn't just a little better, it's muuuuuuuuch better!" yet elaine is still hesitant to try.

I'm sure that if I DID have prime, and used it to its full advantage, I'd love it and never look back. But as of now, without having it or using amazon much (maybe twice a year?), I guess I'm just not all that concerned about it.

We are so close. He's afraid to shite out of his diaper though. Might have to spend a weekend letting him run around naked to get over the hump.

I get that

but if/when you got it, you would start to use it more and more

like right now, I need some new bulbs for my truck, but I really don't feel like going to Autozone or wherever after work or during lunch, so I'll just order them while at work, and they will just show up at my door Thursday with no shipping cost

once you get it and start using it, you will realize the potential

We bought our tv a couple years ago on Amazon for a Black Friday sale.

Free prime shipping, tv arrived like 2 days later and the delivery guys brought the tv in the house for us and took it out the box for me to make sure it wasn't damaged.

It's not like you need Prime to still benefit from what Amazon has to offer. Most items still give you free 3-5 day shipping without Prime. However, the real benefit is that the prices on many items are just so much cheaper. As an added bonus you can quickly sift through the reviews when you need to compare similar products.
